Handlebar Recommendations
« on: June 24, 2013, 09:39:10 PM »

Took the Ride Like A Pro class this past weekend and discovered something interesting...my hand grips are too far forward. I sorta had an inkling on Saturday while practicing some tight turns...it felt like I was reaching and extending my arms too far. A discussion with the instructor on Sunday confirmed my suspicions. He recommends the elbows be bent so no excessive reaching is needed to swing the bars. Makes sense to me but anxious to hear some responses on that subject.

So here is my question...how do I go about selecting the right handlebars? I have a 2011 FLTRUSE. I would like to make this process somewhat painless...but I'm prepeared for the worse.

My instructor told me the same thing except his suggestion was to get my body more forward and upright when executing tight maneuvers. I had already ordered WO 575's and they came in last week, now I'm wondering if I should go that route or just change my posture. If I don't change the bars the seat has to be modified because when I "get forward" as he suggested I start singing soprano after a while. I don't usually spend all day doing those type maneuvers so I would rather be more comfortable in my normal riding position. Find a dealer with a fitment station and see what feels best to you then go from there.
