XM Power Up Failure?
« on: June 27, 2013, 02:17:46 AM »

I've had my '13 CVO Ultra for less than 2 months, and this has happened 3-4 times now starting with maybe day 3 of ownership...

When starting the bike, I get an intermittent error on the XM portion of my radio,
Power Up Failure.
No sound from XM
but other things on the radio work fine (AM/FM, etc...)
I am not totally sure about the iPod, as this happened just yesterday again, but then I could not get my iPod to play either...but I've had issues with it playing then going into pause a few times, so thought maybe this was the case as well.

So no XM when I get that error, and even if I shut the bike off and start it again, the error stays.
Next day, or maybe later in the day, it works again like nothing happened.

I told dealer about it when I brought it in for the 1000 mile service and he said the radio was working fine for them (well duh, it is an intermittent problem!) but said to keep an eye on it, as if it happens a lot they will just other me a replacement...or check the wiring to see if anything is loose.

a replacement what?  XM module?  Radio?

I was thinking of waiting for the 5000 mile service to bring it in, but am thinking of just letting them know about it again since I do have the warranty, and there is no reason for me to wait, really, other than being inconvenienced with no radio or having to wait for the bike to be checked out.

Anyone have this error happen before?

And has it been the radio, or the module or the wiring or something else?

Don't know about the XM but the iPod problem is unfortunately all too common.  May be working fine then shut off bike and restart and no iPod.

Do a search as there are other threads about the iPod issue.  Had it on my 11 and also on my 12 so the setup is obviously not quite ready for prime time.  As far as I know the moco has never addressed this issue.   :nixweiss:
