Best performance pipes for 2011 CVO Street Glide?
« on: July 02, 2013, 11:10:40 AM »

Traded my 2008 CVO road king for a 2011 CVO street glide. The road king  had true dual Rienharts that worked well, just wondering if anyone had any input for pipes on ther 2011 street glide?

Man you are going to find a LOT of opinions on best pipes - only slightly less than "what kind of oil is best?" answers.

There's a bit to consider too - does your new to you ride have the stock head pipe with cat or is it now cat-free?

That cat causes issues with both heat and sound and most on this site (me included) suggest going without it.

Once that cat is gone, the choice of pipes is left to settle for you.

Are you looking for sound, looks, performance?

Performance is mostly going to be up to the tune programmed into the ECM once install is complete.

Sound and looks are going to be up to individual taste.

My ADVICE, VERY HUMBLY, is that it is your money and therefore your ear/eye that ultimately need to be pleased.

Do some looking and listening at your local dealerships/bike shops/shows - there is NO substitute for your own 1st hand perceptions - find what appeals to you.

My EXPERIENCE, as with MANY others on this site, is with Fullsac products and it has been, for me, a very positive experience all the way around.  From questions before during and after purchase to quality of products and ease of install and two years of use - I AM a complete Fullsac proponent.

Read down the postings here in the exhaust section and you'll see what I mean about opinions/suggestions.

Here's a good one with lots of discussion:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=85397.0

Anyway, good luck with your choice and let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.

I like the dual muffler look and also the performance of joining the cylinders together, so my preference is a good 2-1-2 headpipe and a good set of mufflers.  Some of the better (if not the best) 2-1-2 headpipes on the market today is the Fullsac x-pipe, Fuelmoto Jackpot 2-1-2, and the Kuryakyn/V&H 2-1-2. Several of my tuner friends rave about the performance of the 2-1-2 V&H headpipe, but I have never heard any complaints about the Fullsac and Fuelmoto headpipe either. I personally don't think you can go wrong with any of the three I mentioned if you are considering the 2-1-2 headpipe.  If you are into 2 into 1 headpipes, it's hard to go wrong with a Supermeg...if you can deal with the pff pff pff sound.

If you are considering a pipe change, you may want to think about a tuner as well if the bike doesn't already have one.

Everyone is right.... you'll get a million opinions....

Here is mine =>  I love my RB Racing LSR Pro-Stock Spyder.......  Great NASCAR sound, maintains a strong (better than duals) torque curve and screams when you twist the wick.  Many people say that RB Racing people are not good, but I have had just the opposite experience.  They are helpful and insightful.  You get what you pay for and the quality of the pipe is very good.... much stronger feel than V&H.

There you have it......

By the way.... I have had numerous exhausts.... Bassani, HD SE, V&H, Kerker, D&D, Fullsac ..... FWIT, in the grand scheme of things, get what looks and sounds the best to you. Then tell your brain the pipe has made a "Great" improvement so spending the $$$$ won't be a waste.

If you want meaningful responses you might want to add some detail to your post.  For instance, what is your desired sound level: quiet, moderate, or obnoxious?  Are you looking for the "best" performance in terms of peak horsepower, broad torque curve, or some other measure of "performance"?  Do you prefer a particular style and finish, like a 2-1-2 in chrome or black, or perhaps a "true dual" setup, or maybe a 2-1 with or without a ghost pipe?  Does the bike have any other mods or is it currently stock?  Do you plan any other "performance" related mods?

IMHO the best bang for the buck if you're running a stock setup now would be the Stage 1 package from Fullsac.  It includes new headpipes without the catalyst, new cores (baffles) for the stock mufflers in your choice of diameter and sound level, and a TTS MasterTune flash tuner that comes with a map developed for the bike by Steve at Fullsac.  There are a lot of satisfied customers on this site who can answer any questions you may have about that particular package.  Try the search feature on the site for details.  Here's a link to the package on their site:   http://www.fullsac.com/sleeper-kit-110.html

I agree that the Fullsac Stage 1 Sleeper Kit is the best bang for the buck out there, as Jerry mentioned.

You can also go Stage 2, which adds Andrews 54H or 57H cams for more power and better engine breathing than the stock SE 255 cams... A.K.A. "EPA-pleasing CRAP" cams...

Fullsac is the easiest option, I think. I ran the Stage 2 kit for awhile, then decided to take my bike in a different direction with the Drago's Bike Works S/C/S-4 2-into-1 pipe (very LOUD) and the SE 259e high-duration cams with the Cometic MLS .030" head gaskets to bump the compression a bit... Plus some other stuff in my sig. Lost some street manners but gained a LOT of mid- and high-range power.
