2013 CVO ultra removable tour pack
« on: July 07, 2013, 07:21:43 PM »

I am looking for advice from someone who has had this modification done to their bike by a dealership. I am very hessitant to do this myself. Specifically what type of amp did they install. I would like to have the amp mounted in the front fairing along with the boom audio fairing mounted antenna. What type of plugs did the dealer install and are they concealed with the TP off. How may hours of labor did the mod take.

Did mine myself, 3-4 hours tops. Put Amp in saddle bag and hidden antenna in fairing. Dealer is gonna want about 8-10 hours

Hey CVO Brian,
I looked at your post regarding this mod. Your bike looks awsome. I want to avoid relocating the amp in the right sadlebag.

CVOBrian,
Did you drill a hole in the saddlebag for the wiring? If so do you have a picture of that?

I do somewhere. use a standard step drill bit. Very Simple get grommet from Radio shack or the Depot bout 5/8" hole and your done. You dont have to relocate Amp to Saddlebag. You can get a smaller amp like Arc audio or Rockford Punch and will work in Fairing. Most guys do this as an upgrade anyway. I was just trying to cut cost a little cause I bought a StreetGlide Rear Fender for my Ultra so I would truly have Two Bikes in One. All the rest of the wires fit under the seat.
That rear Fender set up was very cheap at Kutter Harley I thing I paid like 680.00 no freight and no tax. Paint solid color was another 2 bills. And Yaffe plate was 100.00 and done
Bought the Removable TP kit from Kutter as well and it was 550.00 total no tax, no shipping.

There is a kit for this? Way better than trying to piece everything.

That is really nice job CVO Brian. Thought about doing that fender thing also, plus detach the TP. Don't have the $$$ right now. It's on the list! I was wondering on the amp plug thingie, if i open that cover, then can i just unplug the amp, drill a hole, and push the electric cable into the saddle bag and reconnect? Again, great looking bike! I made the Plug connection under the seat for the amp so I can still remover the bags real easy to clean the bike. I had to buy two Molex connectors because the Amp has 18 pin single connector and I could not find that so I bought two 9 pins from radio Shack. PLugs and pins were like 30.00 my Buddy is the local Harley service Mgr so he loaned me the tool to do the crimping.
it really is like having two seperate bikes. !5 minutes I can convert to Street Glide. One more pic for the 110 Hunter!!!

Well done.  With the detachable TP on, is there more room for the passenger than before the kit was installed?  I'm finding that the passenger area is a couple inches more crowded than my RK with a TP on.

Just wondering what is done with the CB antenna?  Is it also hidden in the fairing as well?  Or does nobody use it anymore.

Brosen,
I still use the George Anderson TP relocator it moves the rider back 1-3" depending where you want it.

As far as the CB. I stuffed that in the left side cover. But I will never use it.

That is an awesome transformation, I love it too. I may have missed a build thread, but you purchased saddle bags, rear filler panels, fender right off the shelf or catalog, from the Street Glide? I am impressed and wish I didn't have so many toys sometimes to really change one well like that... oops, I love my toys.
