« on: August 17, 2004, 03:28:06 PM »

Thanks...seems to be different since mine is getting a great deal of water inside....maybe mine would be a warranty issue since it's more than just condensation...

Water should not get inside the gauge.  But it happened to me yesterday we've had several day of heavy rain and I now have water inside the gauge.  Stopped at the dealer and they ordered a guage under warranty.

Seems I'm also getting a little water in the fuel gauge.  I got caught in the rain last weekend.  Talk to the dealer about it this weekend and see what they have to say.

2soaper you know what I'm talking about when I said we've had some rain.  Maybe I'll see you on the road.  Are you going to the washington state rally this weekend?

Not sure about the rally, I have a party I have to attend on Saturday.  Maybe going to ride there on Sunday for the Pancake feed and then on to Winthrop or maybe just the top of Highway 20 pass.  The rains have been somthing, we needed it though.  I'll look for a SEEG Orange/Black with Vancouver plates.

Mine would probably make a better rain guage than it does a fuel guage!

New to this forum. Just got a new '04 SEEGlide and the gas guage is full of moisture. My dealer says that it won't be covered under warranty??? Seems some dealers will cover this under warranty and some won't. What gives? How do we get to the Motor Company to complain?

I cannot think of any single reason why this wouldn't be covered by the warranty...

It is a defect...obviously, and unless they can show it was caused by user error (unlikely, since no one would be messing with it), it should be covered.

My 04 SEEG has the same problem.  I have an 03 Ultra and had an 02 Ultra.  All three bikes have/had the same problem.  I was told by the local dealer that this is not covered under warranty.  Why????

My 05 SEEG had a foggy fuel guage also. The dealership said that it happens about one in every ten. My bike has yet to be rained on, so I was really surprised when I first noticed it. I had about 1700 miles on it when it appeared. The dealership changed it under warranty. My friend has an 03 Ultra that had the same problem and a different dealership told him that they would replace it but the new one would do the same thing. So, he didn't have them replace it. So, do they make fuel guages that do not get fogged up. I hope my new guage does the trick or am I just fooling myself.

A new gauge is probably going to do the same thing.  I had an 02 Ultra, still have an 03 Ultra and an 04 SEEG.  The fuel gauges in all three bikes would fog up when the humidity was high, rain or after being washed.  The local HD dealer replaced the gauges in the 02 and 03.  Both new gauges did the same thing.  It seems like Harley would have a fix for this problem by now......
