RedLine Oil change
« on: July 12, 2013, 08:47:51 AM »

Anyone on this site sells RedLine or can refer where to buy. Maybe an oil change kit w/ filter like I bought in Daytona when I changed my SEUC to Amsoil.

Wanna try RedLine to see if the Shockproof tranny oil is any better. Having good success with Amsoil, but we all know the grass is always greener....... So I just wanna test the difference.

Thinking we may have a vendor that sells the package...

Red line Shockproof is the best for the tranny. I use it, and most of my friends do too. Really quiets down the clunking. About $17/qt or so the last time I bought it. Somehow I ended up with 2 qts in my oil cabinet... That will last me a good long while!

I have also run Mobil 1 LS Syn 75W-140 gear lube in the tranny on other bikes in the past. It's pretty good, too.

If I was treated as good as the Honey Badger, I wouldn't care either  :coolblue:

Well, if you were as DIRTY as she is right now, you would care! Poor girl badly needs a BATH, but I've been too busy trying to get stuff done and dodge Mother Nature around here lately to focus on poor Honey Badger.

We're still planning to ride the Cherohala Skyway on Sunday, but every time I look at the weather forecast the chance of precip here and up there keeps rising. Screw it... I'll bring my rain gear! I need to friggin' RIDE!   :bananarock:

Warm weather climate...20w50 or 20w60? Did you need the extra 4oz Primary fluid?

Not a bad price, I paid a lil more for Amsoil in Daytona last year. Been wanting to try RedLine...

I'm running the complete Red Line package and the Red Line 20/60 year round from now on.

I recently tried the Mobile 1 20/50 to compare to the Red Line 20/60 and it will never be used again by me. The difference in increased noise with the Mobile oil was very, very obvious. IMO if your hearing more noise then it's not working as good. My build is relatively quite to begin with so this was very easy to hear the difference and a good test, again, IMO. The transmission is the quietest and smoothest with the Shockproof, same results when I compared to the Mobile 1 75/140.

Not trying to push anyone in any direction just letting you know what my findings were.

I've decided to try out Redline's Shockproof for the tranny. I'm getting tired of the slop in the gears when cruising sound back roads getting on and off the throttle in 5th and 6th.

Hopefully this helps.

By the way, Free Shipping is only on orders of $100 and above. 2 QStack cost me $7.99 to ship.

I personally found I needed the extra 4 oz, so ordered an extra quart.  I also used the 20W60 the last change (the bike is now sold) and felt it worked great down here in Alabama...a little extra insurance against those 95 + degree days, IMO.  Certainly can't hurt anything, and HD actually recommends the heavier weight in hot climates.  I don't think you HAVE to do it, but it's available, so why not?  Racer Parts also sells the K&N chrome filter, which I like because of the nut welded on the end for easy removal.

I didn't know you could run 60w in the newer twin cams. My bike is pretty clattery!

Anybody else have comments on running 60w?

I'm fairly certain in the owners manual that there is a chart indicating ambient temps vs oil weights that can be used.  I don't have an manual handy to say that with 100% certainty, but I'm 99.9% sure from memory.
