How many like Hydraulic clutch
« on: July 14, 2013, 08:07:03 AM »

I have a CVO Wanna BEE, and I don't hear much about the hydraulic clutch, I'm looking to put one in my Streetglide, so here are the questions, Are they smooth? would you have another hydraulic clutch? any maintenance issue?
The reason I'm asking, my TBW binds up on occasion, and I don't like it, so I'm looking for one of these.

No issues with my hydro clutch.  I also like that I don't ever need to adjust it.  The only draw back is that I'd like to get new levers but can't find anything that will work with my hydro so I'm stuck with the stock levers.

I'm confused by that statement.  The ETC (electronic throttle control), or TBW as you called it, has absolutely nothing to do with the clutch. :confused5:

As for the hydraulic clutch, IMHO Harley should make it standard equipment just like many other companies did ages ago.  I've owned many bikes over the years with cable clutches, and a few more recently with hydraulic versions.  By far the hydraulic system is much smoother and more consistent in operation.  As for maintenance, a simple fluid change every couple years is a good idea and it's called out in the maintenance schedules.  That's it, no lubing of parts, no adjustments, just check the fluid level once in awhile.

It may be that there's an issue with mine, but I hate it.  The pull is heavier than the pull on the Barnett in the Night Train, and the friction zone is all over the place depending on the bike's temperature.

i did notice that the pull was heavier than my 2010 rgc (at low rpm), but that had a vpc92 in it.  the friction zone doesn't move though.  it's pretty consistent where its at.

I love the hydrollic clutch.  Smooth.  Never needs to be adjusted.   Can't go wrong.  :)

My first experience with hydraulic clutch was fall of 04 on my 05 SEEG, I will never go back. If I bought a bike without one It would be like slip-ons, must do first thing after purchase. I love them.
