My SESG is the first bike I have had with a hydraulic clutch.  I have had it about 2 months and really like it.  It has a very consistent smooth feel

I guess I'm old school. There is a certain "feel" you don't get with the liquid clutch. Granted they are smoother.

Can't say i'm fan as yet.. mine left me hi and dry over the weekend. the  We were headed out for a nice long ride and I noticedplay in the lever, then had to start pumping to get anything, then.....nothing....Totally failed, only 4500 miles. Havent heard from the dealer yet as to what the problem is... >:(

Anytime a part fails and cost you a good ride, not to mention the frustration, we tend to be leary. Know how you feel. Makes you hate anything that leaves you on the side of the road.

Over all I like the Hydr clutch, but I do think it would be a improvment to be able to adjust the friction zone.  Mine is all at the full out position I would like it closer to the handle.
Other than that I like it a lot though I have modified my clutch with new plates lower spring pressure and the AIM unit.  See "This clutch is a Bear" thread.
This might help with your issues.

Love the hyd. Clutch.  Prefer it much more than cable myself also.

The feeling is better with a cable operated clutch for slow riding. It is much easier to manipulate the "grey" zone and slip the clutch with a constant rpm during slow maneuvers.

Don't mind the hydraulic clutch but don't need one.

X2! I was just discussing this, this weekend with the guys in service. You would think they would have allowed for some adjustment. The friction zone on mine is almost all the way out too, and it doesn't take much of a move to be fully engaged.

When new it was a little grabby, but that was probably the clutch itself and not the actuator.  Since then much preferred over a cable.

As Red Eagle stated, the friction zone is reduced and in the beginning it takes a bit of getting used to.  Once you have it down...no worries.
