I've got a stage 1 (propipe, s&s induction intake & sert) but my 110 is still left wanting. I don't want to do heads (just yet, or at all if I can avoid it) but I need more, everywhere! Cam swap is my next quest. I have looked into a few choices. I want the low end that comes with a 30-40 degree i/c. I want the lower running temp of a 28-40 overlap. And I want the legs of a duration in the 220-240 range. I know the stock 255 is a good low end cam but low end isn't all I want. So a compromise is in order. I'm thinking a little squish to help combustion and compression so cometic .030 h/g is likely on the build sheet. Question: The h/g should boost c/r to 9.7, or so I'm told, is that too much compression for a 34 degree i/c cam? Has anyone tried a tw222 with a .030 h/g? Or is it better suited to one of the later i/c cams like tw5-6 or 57h. 2nd Question: Are the 110 stock heads better suited for a .555 lift or will they work better with a .575 or .600 lift. Will intake velocity suffer too much at 2500-3500 rpm with a taller lift? Just curious about a tw7h vs tw6h or a tman 600.
I am primarily a hwy cruiser. My ride is a 2010 flhrc with a new 110 crate engine(long story). I love turning onto the hwy with lots acceleration and also having the pwr to get out of trouble when I feel I'm getting closed in by traffic. And finally I like cruising at 80mph in 6th and simply twisting the throttle to pass them long semi b trains at 100mph. I had that with the 103 I built but the high compression and general over tune wasn't real durable, which explains the new 110 crate. So if anyone has a bit of experience with .030 h/g and early (34 - 38) i/c cams, I'd be interested in hearing about that set up.
