Random signal lights turning on
« on: July 18, 2013, 09:27:59 PM »

I have 1200 miles on my FLTRXSE2 and my signal lights turn on randomly
Left or right, short as a few seconds and long time, hot or cold bike.
It seems to have started after riding in the rain a week ago but it has been super hot and dry for a week so im fairly certain its not wet.
Dealer is guessing along with me and cant seem to figure it out.  We have looked for obvious pinched wires.
Any thoughts?

You might try spraying out your turn signal switches with some electrical contact cleaner.  It will flush out any debris or water that might be causing the problem.  Use the little spray nozzle straw and just spray all around the switch to flush it out real good.  I've done this many times on different electrical switches that have got wet and usually it works fine.  Just make sure that what ever you use that it says it's safe on plastic.

I have had same problem over the years if the check wires with a ohm meter sometimes their is a little bleed off of power from switch that turns signals on. Usually have new switch installed.

When the signal starts to go, just turn in that direction real fast like.  Hear it's the MOCO'S new style GPS system. Makes the ride very interesting.  ;)
