Mini Beast Horn Vibration Sound
« on: July 23, 2013, 07:52:55 AM »

I installed  a mini beast horn on my 2013 CVO Road Glide two weeks ago.  Found that at about 2,500 RPMs there was a vibration from the horn that sounded like a table saw. Above and below 2,500 there was no vibration sound. I tried reinstalling with several washers that extended the horn out from the engine.  That didn't work either.  I removed the mini beast and reinstalled the stock horn, thinking that maybe the vibration sound was coming from the transmission.  Once the stock horn was reinstalled, there was no vibration sound.

Has anyone had the same experience and what action did you take, short of contacting the manufacturer.

Thanks.

Mine did but my bracket was broken.  They sent me a entirely rebuilt horn.  I'd call the OEM.  The customer service was great!!!

Their customer service is great! I bought a Mini Beast a couple of months ago and then about a month later was reading another forum (never participate) I saw a thread tittled "warning about Mini Beast". When I read it it said that they had run out (lost their supplier) of the air horns and were not putting air horns inside but just load electric horns. I called them and they didn't try and cover up but said that was correct but the electric horn was putting out the same decibels as the air horn but if I wanted a air horn they were getting a new supplier in another month and they would send me one. As good as their word about 3 weeks later a air horn arrived to switch out with a simple request to just mail back the electric horn once I made the switch.
The bad news is that once I made the switch, my tech that works on my bike talked me out of using the horn because it is so large and weighs so much (especially with the new air horn installed) that he is worried when the rubber grommet fails it will go into the cylinder heads of the brand new 120r I just ordered...
when I install the new motor i will be selling the Mini Beast with the brand new air horn here...

I had the same issue on mine and emailed the company. They said to check the bracket to make sure it wasn't bent and I finally took the cover off the horn and saw where the horns were rubbing the cover. I put 2 pieces of rubber in there between the horns and the cover and it is now quiet.........hope this helps.

I dont "have the stones" to try it. Whenever I go against my tech, I end up sorry. It probably would be fine but to me, not worth the risk/reward of keeping the MB on.
