2010 FLHTCUSE5 Front Brake Problems - Vibration
« on: July 24, 2013, 01:02:17 PM »

Anyone else have issues with the front brakes? At about 10,000 miles I replaced the rotors because I had a bad vibration. Now, at 20,000 the vibration is back. It happens at about 40mph and above. It's not the ABS, it's not the tire (new rubber) and the dealer tells me that it's the rotors. I guess these floating rotors have issues where the float buttons corrode and cause the vibration. The dealer says I should put standard rotors on to fix the problem, but downgrading doesn't sound like solution....I really want to keep the floaters. I'm thinking about going with aftermarket replacements just so I don't have to go through this every 10,000 miles.

So, anyone else having these issues? Any way to resolve it before replacing the rotors? Does HD acknowledge this as an issue like my local dealership does? Anyone have any recommended replacements? I want floaters and would prefer a chrome inner ring finish.

Thanks!
Randy

Guess i got lucky made it to 15k miles and it seams like over night it went to crap. dealer checked it out and said one rotor was warped 8thousands and the other was at 3 thousands. I just replaced the rotors and upgraded the pads. been looking at the lyndall compomposite rotors, not cheap but have a warrenty if you used there pads

I've got over 60k miles on my FLHTCUSE5 with no problems. Mine must not have been built on a Monday morning.

I've had the same problem on my past 4 bikes. I only get about 5-7k miles out of a set of front rotors. I rode sportbikes all my life and never had rotor issues till I started riding a HD.

I have owned 3 HDs since 2004 and have not had any brake problems.  Got 30K on my SEUC5
