Thanks to my Northern Friends
« on: July 25, 2013, 07:44:18 AM »

Just finished my trailer in time for Sturgis. Yea, I know RIDE IT!! Have done that when I was younger and learned that the Interstate Hwy System allows you to ride from NC to SD and see absolutely nothing!!! Back to the present. Got the idea from my Northern friends (no 'Y' word) and their snowmobile trailers, ride on....ride off (just duck yo noggin). Works real well when haulin 4.

Very nice, Jimmy and I agree with the interstate comment...nothing but corn, soybeans and hog farms between our part of the country and about the middle of SD.  I like the idea of the ride in-ride out trailer...makes all kinds of sense to me.
Still, I enjoy the ride out...just part of the "experience" to me.  Can't say I blame you, though.  I'm not getting any younger and the last time out I was 37 (1998).  I've done some long distance rides since (rode to Phoenix and back in 4 1/2 days once....wore me the heck out!) but nothing long distance in the past couple of years.  Plus with vacation/jobs the way they are, it's harder to take a full week much less two weeks vacation.  Trailering gives you the option of blasting out and having more time at the destination.  Looks like you are ready to head out....see you there, brother.... :2vrolijk_21:

You got it Howard!! Last year me and the Kid took a Id, Wy, Mt, Canada, Wa trip.....3700 mi in 9 days. I knew then it would be my last long haul. 500 miles a day is a bit much for an old fart. I envy the guyz on here that are older than me and humping long hauls. MY HAT IS OFF!!!!!

Nice set up and nothing wrong with trailering out there.  Trailered two Ultras to Sturgis two years ago (one for my buddy from Hawaii) and proceeded to put 1,600 miles on in the five days we were out there making a loop over to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. Had a couple people give me grief about trailering, but they were from a state or two over....not 2,000 miles away.  Only had two days to get there and two to get back so trailering made a lot more sense.  Would like to ride out one of these days when I have the time. Have fun and take lots of pics for those of us that can't make it.
