That's fascinating. Probably has ol' Henry Ford rolling over in his grave but still fascinating.  Of course those that invested in Tesla prior to the Model S are sittin high on the hog right about now.....absolutely beautiful car....especially for an electric car.  And as I understand it, the performance, acceleration, speed, etc. is right there, too.

I spent the majority of my career as a tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry - in the powertrain world.  There are very few "big three" powertrain plants in the world that I haven't been inside of many times.   The evolution of the technology of these plants was astounding over the years.

I'd love to have a Tesla in the stable.  I believe the car is a peak into the future....

I too have spent my life as tier I and II to the automotive companies, what a PITA they have been and only getting worse

A lot of the same technology you see at the revamped York Assembly Plant.  Actually, a lot of the same equipment, just on a scale for MC instead of Auto.

Could you throw a Honda Generator in the trunk if you need to leave town?
No fan of the Green movement. I always giggle as I pass those 40 MPH Prius cockroaches in the mountains on my Harley.
They usually have their windows down.

I read somewhere that the manufacturing process to make a hybrid car's battery is equal to running a gas economy car 80,000 miles. That's hardly green if you ask me!!!
