need some advice on speakers going out
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:01:50 AM »

I have a 2011 SG CVO  7800 miles   the right side speakers will shut off and come back on.

The problem seems to only happen when running the stereo with my Iphone.   I've also notice that at lower volumn it doesnt happen and once you go over about half volumn as you increase the volumn the speakers will shut off or cut out a lot more

Any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks

On my 05 SEEG I went with the hogtune speakers. I had to replace several of the speakers over the 45K miles I had on the bike. Mine would cut in and out and I wasn't using an Iphone. Checked connections and thought that was it...NOT! :D Every time, for me, to replace the speaker was necessary. Hope yours is different. You can always swap speakers and if problem swaps you know it's in speaker! :nixweiss: Good Luck! :2vrolijk_21:

HI,

Thank you.   Did the Hog tunes speakers fix it?    I'm thinking about taking everything out and replacing with hawg wired.    This is my second harley and both have had stereo problems.    The ipod cables are poor quality too

First I just noticed you said right side speakerS. Does both speakers (Batwing and Saddlebag) quit at same time? If so it may be from your poor iPod cable. On my same SEEG05 I was talking about, I also had a Garmin plugged into Radio and it would do the same thing and it was my cable. I could pull it in and out and it would go back to working. Hogtune speakers did mess up until I got their upgraded speaker and haven't had a problem since. Went with Hogtune to hear radio much better. :2vrolijk_21:

I too have a 2011 CVO SG.  My right side speakers in the fairing would drop out when I turned the bars to the left to rest it on the jiffy stand.

It was the USB cable in the fairing the service manager said the cable was getting pinched.  Im dropping the bike off today to get it replaced.
