Will the trend hold up for 2014?
« on: July 29, 2013, 10:42:44 AM »

It seems like each year when Harley releases info and photos of the new CVOs the initial response is "I don't like it" or the "colors and paint schemes are horrible".

Then when members start buying the new CVOs and posting their own photos or more members see the new CVOs in person then the comments change to 'Nice" or the photos don't do them justice" and the colors really pop in the sunshine....

My .02 is the trend will continue for 2014.......   :huepfenlol2:

I'm pretty sure the only CVO that people just hated the look of was the 09 FLTRSE3 in Orange!   :D   ;)    :huepfenlol2:

Kidding, of course!  You're right.  HD has a client base that is slow to accept change; at least for the most part.     :nervous:

For the first time in years, I am actually excited by the color charts I have seen. The new ORANGE looks to be a winner!

But I like any color, as long as it's ORANGE!!!  :2vrolijk_21:

I've complained about the quality of the bike pictures on Harley's website for the last four years that I've been looking. It amazes me that I can take a picture of my bike with my phone and it looks great, but Harley can't get good pictures on their site with, I would assume, professional photographers. It's sad to me that they can't post pictures that "do the bikes justice".

AMEN, Joe.  How many times have you heard from the dealer "well, wait until you see it in person/sunlight".  I'll take the Skunk color scheme for example.  Not very pretty in the pictures but a knockout in person.  Pictures don't show the pearl in the white or black.
Preach on, brother... :2vrolijk_21:

What we need to do is send Jock to the dealer meeting to take "Real" photos for us  :)

Lets just pile more work on his life.

Just my 2 cents worth.  Maybe they dont want to take too good of pix.  what they want is to entice us enough to go to the dealer to see them.  thats where the deal is made.  Just a thought, as i do agree with you that the pics just dont do it.

The last new Harley-Davidsons I liked were the 2009 CVO Road Glides, so don't count on me changing my opinion that these bikes get more and more "metric" every year.

I have to agree with you there. The '09 SERGC in the orange/black is still probably my favorite CVO paint scheme ever. The yellow and gray ones were nice, too... but the orange was just spectacular. I love the big painted-on Screamin' Eagle head on the fairing!

And the regular '09 RGs in the Mirage Orange Pearl were gorgeous, too. I really love the color. I saw one with a matching painted trailer once... it had the same lines painted on the trailer. It was very cool.

Dull, lifeless pics on the website don't exactly make me think "WOW! These colors are so AWFUL, I need to go down and see them in person!"

My Hot Citrus '12 SESG looked SO BAD AND DULL in the website pictures that I never gave it a second thought until I SAW it. The '12 SERK Skunk looked awful in the pics too... but is STUNNING in real life.

I would think that they would want the website pics to EXCITE customers... not turn them off. Most of the colors in the staged indoor pics are not even CLOSE to the real colors... and yet they have done this for years and KEEP doing it. I just don't get it...

I believe the trend will continue! When new owner pictures are posted, then the excitement builds!
