no key
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:41:41 PM »

I have a 2013 cvo breakout and i am using the autotune feature on the SE race tuner. It says to keep the key on while doing the mapping but there is no key and with the switch on it shuts off after a few minutes.I am not that fast with the remapping and i am afraid the ignition will shut off in the middle .Is ther away around this?

A little clarification please.  Are you leaving the key on while reprograming the ECM or while the software is creating new VE tables?  It should not shut off by itself if you are loading a calibration.

Side notes.  If you kill the power to a CAN bus bike.  The lights won't shut off until you are doing 0 mph.  Learned this by kill power and rear wheel still spinning on the drum.  Another thing I learned by accident is.  I reprogrammed the ECM with the kill switch off.  Program successful.  ??

Creating new VE's is a computer program and you are in a completely different screen. I don't see why you need power to the bike. It needs no communication with the bike for this.

I was under the impression that ALL modules, including the ECM, are always powered on a HDLAN bike, ignition on or off.  If that's the case, would you really need to have the ignition ON to communicate through the VCI with the ECM?  I don't know the answer, just thinking out loud.

Haven't done CAN with SE product yet. So.... But what I have seen. If power isn't on. You can't even click on the REFLASH icon.  Maybe CAN is different.

Power has to be switched on mine or can't do anything.

However, I have never come close to it shutting off before complete with tuning. The bike does not need to be turned on to change the tables. Do all your changes on the laptop and be ready to re-flash when you turn it on. a minute later and your done. :nixweiss:
