Trailer and Hitch recommendations
« on: August 04, 2013, 09:15:45 AM »

Guys,
I ride a 2012 CVO Ultra. I am thinking about getting a trailer to pull behind the bike, which means I will also need a hitch.  I want a hidden hitch.  Any input on the better options on both the trailer and the hitch would be great.  We are in the middle of a 5-6000 mile trip and a trailer would be great, I think.
Thanks

Not cheap, but my recommendation is Bushtec.  Great hitch and a quality trailer.  Many models to choose from.

Ditto on Bushtec.

Another ditto on the Bushtec.
There are cheaper trailers, there are more expensive trailers but there are none better than a Bushtec.
I have had an American Legend, an N-Line and a Bushtec. I chose to stick with the Bushtec.

UNIGO trailer out of Ohio & Florida one wheel trailer, @ 100mph you don't know it's behind you. Put many long trips on with it, 6000 miles in 9 days.

Another vote for Bushtec. Just got back for a trip out to California riding up the PCH.

I agree with Chip. If I were to buy a cargo trailer, Bushtec is the one for several reasons. Tall tires roll easier from a stop and I believe they run even flat. Air suspension, weight unloaded is like 125 lbs, most well built trailers are much heavier. Lots of options available, and I don't remember ever hearing even one complaint except they don't come cheap new. Even then many people on this site have found good deals on a used one.

Chip is right I have had trailers from 5 different manufactures and Bushtec remains number 1.

Thanks very much.  It seems Bushtec is the favorite with most people.  I guess I should just suck up and spend the extra money.

Another on this bandwagon.  Both the trailers and the hitches are the best on the street.

You can get a used one and save some $$. Make sure its a 1994 or newer so you have the current suspension and wider tires. Earlier that that you won't be able to get replacement shocks or tires. They come up on ebay all the time and its not unusual to see a good one for 2500-3000 with the cooler and garment bag included. If money is no object, Bushtec can color match to your CVO and pretty much nail it graphics and all.

You can't go wrong with a Bushtec.  I have an American Legend trailer and love the look as it somewhat follows the Harley lines.  However, I think they are out of business which makes Bushtec the heads up winner.  Even with the American Legend, I went with the Bushtec hidden hitch which is awesome.  With the trailer off, no one even notices the hidden hitch.  Since I recently sold the 09 SERG and went with the Ultra CVO, I haven't decided yet if I want to keep or sale the trailer.  If I keep it, definitely would put a Bushtec hitch on the new bike.
