Trouble Shooting FLHRSEI2 - Possible Stator Issue?
« on: August 04, 2013, 06:42:54 PM »

03 FLHRSEI2
47,000 miles
Upgraded Hydraulic Cam tensioners and larger oil pump.

In the past week or so, usually near the end of a 200 - 300 mile ride, The Engine Light Flickers on and then off after a few seconds. It always seems to happen right around 2,000 rpms, 50+ mph in fifth gear going up and incline. It could happen 2 or 3 times in and hour or two or just once in that same time frame.

Increasing the rpms by speeding up or droping down a gear always makes the light go off.
It can happen at Warm Ambient temps or Cool Ambient temps.
Happens more often riding 2 Up than Solo Riding

Is it possible to have a Stator issue just at a certain rpm range with a load on?

I have stopped and checked the Oil Temp and Level. Oil has always beem OK and Temp has been around 205 - 212.

I have 65w Headwinds passing lights, the 55wLo/65wHi HD Head light and the module to make rear turn signals also running lights. No other items drawing any current on the the bike itself.

Is it possible the Stator is slowly going and cannot handle the load?

Thanks

How many things will cause that Engine Light to go on at 50+ mph????

Thanks

Thanks
