Does anyone have feedback on the UltraCooler
« on: August 05, 2013, 09:21:17 PM »

I did a search, but found nothing about how well this product worked, or if it helped at all.

The product is the UltraCooler oil cooler.  ultracoolfl.com  Met the owner of the company at House of Thunder HD (I'm spending way too much time hanging out at stealerships!), and he was very helpful and enthusiastic.  In the Southern California summers, the heat and traffic are brutal, and I've been trying to find something that will actually make a difference, both while moving and sitting in traffic.

The unit mounts in the same place as the stock oil cooler, and makes sense to me for a couple reasons.  First, it's larger than stock, with more surface area, which should help when moving.  Second, it has two fans that put out more cfm than those offered by other venders.  Third, The complete kit is $400.  The only downside is that it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.  Most people wouldn't notice it, but it doesn't look well integrated to me.  It also may be more vulnerable.

I like the idea of the Ward's fans, but I doubt they make much difference in the oil temp.  I was leaning toward the OilBudd cooler, but it has no fan, and costs $650.  And, yes, I've done the pipe and fuel map.

Thoughts?  Has anyone tried this UltraCool?

If you like to hang out there so much that you think its "too much", why do you call it a "stealership"?

Good gawd, somebody's little knickers are in a twist tonight.

I made two posts today, each one involving something I'd come across (police bikes, UltraCool) at different dealerships in the past couple of days.  That's the only reason I made a reference to hanging out too much.  I really don't.

Have you had any experience with the UltraCool you'd like to share?

Nothing positive on the ultracool, in fact it made the engine run hotter?? Not sure what the customer did once we removed it. Installed Jagg unit with fan and it works great. If you add an engine fan it only gets better.  The Jims units works fine and you can get it now. The werks fan deal is some what of a wait until he gets them ready. Good luck

I second the Jagg with fan, rarely use the fan (manually connected)!

Thanks for the info, that's exactly what i needed to know.   :znotworthy:

The Jagg also sticks out like the UltraCool, but I'm wanting function over form at this point.  My Ultra thanks you, too.  :2vrolijk_21:

I had the UltraCool on my 2007.  Seemed like a good idea, but it never panned out.  Thing leaked all the time from various points.  Stopped it leaking in one spot, it started in another, over and over again, was a pain in the ass to install, remove, install, remove, etc.  When it did work, it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference.  Traded the bike and have been happy with stock cooler on the CVO.  The bike went with just the cooler installed and the oil filter adapter/thermostat plate is collecting dust in my tool chest as a reminder that I wasted $400

Thanks for the feedback.  :2vrolijk_21:  Goes to show how good this site is for getting more reliable information.

I had seen the UltraCool before, but since I couldn't find much feedback or info, I assumed it wasn't a good product.  The owner of the company made it sound like it was the best thing since sliced bread.  I'll be trying the fan assisted Jagg oil cooler, and hopefully it will help with some heat issues.
