Just got new wheels
« on: August 08, 2013, 02:57:57 PM »

I just got new wheels on the girl and she actually rides smoother. Before the new wheels I would let go of the bars and it would want to go slightly to the left. Now she is a straight as an arrow. Someone told me the original CVO wheels created air turbulence.

That's one fine "Street Glide" you're ridin'!  :P

You mentioned that you feel straight line stability/tracking is better.  How does it do with that bigger wheel in the twisties?

Interesting look w/wheels and taking the Ultra to Street Glide.  With out the Tour Pack , what did you do with the sound system/amp?  Just running the 2 in the upper fairing?

Handles pretty good on the curves. The rear tire is wider so it roles over like a cafe racer. My buddies said the front wheel will want to fall into the curves harder but I think with the rear tire being larger it compensates the front wheel out.
I put the amp in the right saddle bag and I added quick disconnets for the wiring of the tour pack. I can have my tour pack on ready to ride in about 5 minutes. If I connect the CB antenna it takes about 10 minutes. I have a hidden antenna in the fairing.
Best of both worlds, ride to a restaurant on Friday as a street glide, then head to the mountains Saturday as an Ultra.

This picture has the older wheels on it but it better shows what it looks like as a street glide.

21 x 3.5 front / 17 x 6.25 rear

I had to use a spacer to raise the front fender up 1 inch. Our CVO fenders are actually fatboy fenders made to fit the Ultra Classic shock tube bolt pattern. This makes the fender 1 inch closer to the stock wheels than other standard Ultras. You have to look at it very closely but if you know what your looking for, you will see it.

I did the same thing on my 2009 SE Ultra. It was nice but I have an 04 SEEG without the tour pak if I wish. Soooo I traded the 09 in on my 2012 which is the same color as yours. This time I will change bikes when I want to run around town!!!

BTW the bike looks good as a "STREET GLIDE"

The new wheels look great.  I am in the process of doing the same.  My wheels showed up late last week and I will install them when I return from Milwaukee.  I am glad to hear the ride s greatly improved.  Enjoy.
