mixing baffles
« on: August 10, 2013, 07:58:42 AM »

I have a 2011 cvo road glide ultra, I have cut the stock head pipe and took cat out and tried 2 full sac and 1.75 full sac both to loud for wife on all day rides, me to espallly if we get way out and have to hit the dreaded interstate to come home. Replaced packing with the stuff on ebay I had seen on this forum, not any quieter, put the stock baffles back in, but would like just a little more bass or bark (not much) I thought I had read of some one using 1 stock and 1 fullsac which way would be the quietest fulsac left or right sitting on bike.  Thanks

Hey Rhino

I have a special set of really quiet 1.75s you can try. If your interested, Email mail me your address and I wll get them heading your way. If they make the wife happy keep em and send back one of the sets she doesn't like.

Every once in a while I make something that I am really proud of and nobody else likes it.
Real quiet muffler baffles. Complete failure. I only sold a few sets, one guy and his wife were
so pissed off, said they were embarrassed to ride their bike. Personally, I like quiet mufflers on long days.
Hopefully Rhino and his wife will like these too. Then there will three of us...lol

Too quiet is no good......Between the exhaust and the radio you need to something to drown out the knocking and rattling that the 110 makes :huepfenlol2:

Very good point. Add intake noise to the list.

How well do the really quiet baffles perform compared to the others? I might like em.

That will really depend on your power level and how well they play with your other parts. These particular 1.75 cores have the same
back pressure as all the other 1.75s. I was able to reduce the sound level beyond the normal cores by extending the exit tip all the way to the end of the muffler combined with a more aggressive spiral to the louver pattern. My 103 was 99 HP with the 2.0s and 97 HP with the 1.75s. Picked up some TQ below 3K. That was with a DX Pipe and 577 Genesis cams. The DX will tolerate the smaller cores better than a CX, it has more overall air flow with the larger left side exit. Cam overlap is another issue. The more overlap you have the less back pressure it will tolerate. I ran these on a recent 3600 mile trip, finished with 730 miles on the last day in 12 hours. Ran 90 MPH for hours, could have cared less about two HP. The worse part was the rattling motor.  :nixweiss:
