BL in Daytona
« on: October 23, 2006, 01:38:51 PM »

Billy L and Choppers, Inc.were at Daytona this past Sunday. Billy was hangin out and signing autographs.   We said a prayer for Mr. Morelock and his family, and another for Mr. Lane.  Time will tell how Lane will deal with all of this. We hope he takes the responsibility properly no matter what the courts have to say.

A lot of people probably don't know what Billy has been up to lately. I live in TX and read the new papers and watch the news daily, but the only place I saw or heard mention of the BL wreck was here and on other HD boards. I'm sure there are plenty that still think he is someone to look up to. Sad but true.

I think you're right.  Even down here in his home state, I've only seen mention of this mess in the mainstream print newspapers once.  The online publication that's been supplying all the material is based in Lane's hometown of Melbourne.

Sure, I would believe that most folks don't know anything about it, especially those outside of the motorcycle community.

my buddy stood in line for over a 1/2 hr to get his autograph and photo with his 12yr old son in Chicago last winter, I happened to mention the wreck to them and his son without being coerced one bit by his father ripped up the autograph and deleted the pictures, and said what a Jerk. even a 12yr old can have more sense of responsibility than [highlight][/highlight]billy "wrong" lane.[highlight][/highlight]

Well the guy is a party animal. It is a shame that the accident happened. I do see these kind of accidents more than you could believe. When the bars of DC close down at night (0300 hrs) it is like a zoo on the roads.

BL didn't do anything different than a lot of people I see on the streets DAILY. He is like a very few out there though. HE GOT CAUGHT. It is a shame that someone lost their life in that accident but it happens EVERY DAY.I have cut more people out of cars than I would like to remember. Most of the time alcohol is a factor.

He needs to slow down and may get his chance for a few years compliments of the State of Flordia. The fact that he was in Daytona should not be a big deal. He has a business to run and is still famous and most likely wants to keep it going. Life goes on after this and evry other accident

For those of you that keep saying HE MUST PAY. Believe me he will. There is not a day that will go by that he will be able to say it was just another  accident. The fact that he took another mans life will be with him the rest of his life rather he wants it to or not. That is a burden I would never want to carry on my shoulders. I still pray for all of those involved.

Be Safe

Mike,
I know exactly what you speak of. I have seen more then my share of accidents involving alcohol, and would be fine if I never saw another one. Most people never get to see the things you and I see to often on a daily basis because the majority of people are safe at home when these tragedies happen.

BL will carry this burden on his shoulders for the rest of his life and relive the accident in his head more then we will ever realize.

I can remember when I probably could have been in situations like BL that I shouldn't have been driving, just luckily somebody was watching over me (thank you, Jesus), and got me home safely. Now that I have gotten older wiser/seen the tragic outcome of being intoxicated and driving I have a better understanding and respect for alcohol. [highlight]I have a rule that I will not drink more drinks/beers then I have wheels under me.[/highlight] If I'm going to drink I'll ever park my vehicle (bike/car), spend the night where I'm at, or walk/ride home w/designated driver.

Not sure if any of you notice/remember (other then Otis, Unbalanced/Michelle), but the first night when I was in MV and I wanted to enjoy myself w/some refreshments [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif], and socialize. I went to the ABC store made a purchase then I put the bike up before I started drinking. Doing this meant I had to walk about a half mile each way (from Microtel - JCI, and back) to do it. For me this was a small price to pay to enjoy and keep myself, and others safe. Plus it gave Otis and I the opportunity to get better acquainted as we walked back to the motel, even though he said he'd never do that walk again. ;D

Hey Fired00d - I totally agree with your approach - but we gotta hope you're not in a big rig 18 wheeler one night (with a thirst)

Sorry bud - couldn't resist it - I think you can take the flak though - am I right?

Cheers

[smiley=zroflmao.gif] Good one, never thought about that. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] One of the reasons I'm so cautious about drinking and driving is because I have a "Commercial" driver
