Is it doable?  Anyone able to get part numbers to update the fairing along with the infotainment system, etc?

Don't be so quick to jump on the band wagon... none of these new features have been (real world) tested and other than the looks there are many options already in the aftermarket. Just sayin'.... :nixweiss:

Everything inside that fairing is different.  Previously non-existent speaker pods, totally different radio mount, new and apparently different sized instruments, nearly all the audio modules and accessories, even the cigarette lighter.  I doubt anything from the old fairing bolts directly in to the new.  Nor would you be able to use the new parts in the old fairing.  All CAN bus now, zero harnesses will interchange.  It's just a totally different kit up there.  If you want the mail slot on your old fairing get out the Sawzall and Dremel and hit the parts store for some door edge molding to trim the cuts with.

Also, completely new mounting strategy using completely new brackets on completely new triple trees.  And it contains completely new guages with completely different sizes & shapes.

And no one outside the moco has had any of this in thier hand to even analyze whether an interface is possible.

So, go ahead!  Should be a pretty easy swap.  Report back to the group on your progress.  :drink:

super simple.  just ride to your hd dealer.  hand him a check, and your old bike, and ride off with the new one.  problem solved  :bananarock:

I would agree, the new lineup is somewhat disappointing. IMO the new lineup sends mixed signals from the MOCO. Tech and mech advances as well as subtle styling queues lean to Gold Wing envy. Fewer CVO offerings suggest the personal "customization" market is more attractive to owners and HD.  Moreover, the non-touring models continue to grow and reveal an effort to further penetrate the "bar bike" market. On the bright side, checkout the NADA value on your ride. Mine is booked for almost as much as I paid for it.

Couldn't have said it better. Kinda leanin towards the GW, whats next? Full fairings covering the engine down to the floorboards. Also not impressed with the CVO lineup this year. Must be the same marketing team as my local stealer. Young guys(thugs) as salesman, don't ride a HD much less own one...

I would imagine, if even possible, it would be cost prohibitive (new inner and outer fairing, infotainment center, gauges, various hardware, wiring, etc.).  Also, I couldn't see you ever being able to recoup much of your money on a trade or private party sale.

If you visit the web page and "build your own" you will begin to see the thinking behind the marketing campaign.  The dealers MUST have had a huge impact with HD, "you want us to stock a million bucks of aftermarket parts and then you create a (more or less) finished bike on the most popular model (SG)".  So you "build" out the SG Special, then add $6k of "dealer installed" and you have a CVO with a stock paint job.  Like I said earlier, this must be more lucrative to the MOCO and the dealer network.  Nobody said they don't do their homework. That said, I did visit my local dealership yesterday and got a peek at some new ones including the "infotainment" system.  There are those who will love playing with it, but at my age (64) I don't want to learn another OS, I just want to ride.
