Like many others here, I installed the Wild One 575 bars on my bike. It makes a huge difference to me, I'm 5'10" also. Better wrist angle, perfect hand placement, no more reaching forward which was getting to my back right between the shoulder blades. They even made my hammock seat, which I had been hating, feel better since I'm sitting more upright. An unexpected benefit is the slightly wider bars give me some additional leverage getting the bike off the side stand.

The 10" (Wild One 575) seem to be very popular.  I have driven a couple touring bikes with 10" and they certainly are more comfortable than stock and the grips stay below the fairing.  I love apes (18" on my softails) and went with the HCC 14" which were more comfortable for me compared to the 10".  The grips are 1-2" above the fairing which is only an issue when it's below 40 degrees -- at which point the heated grips go on.  SJ Ron :)

I'm 5' 10" as will and went with the H-D 2" taller with the 2" pullback. At first, like you, I did not like the grip angle.  After riding them though I love them.  Like anything else - it's what you get used to: bikes, seats, grip/bar, ETC.

I have a couple thousand miles on them after having put 10,000 on the stock bar (all in one year).  I could never leave my hands on the grips for extended times, but now I can.  I don't use cruise control nearly as much as I used to as well.  It has made u-turns even easier.  Another good thing was I did not have to extend any cables ($$$) or lose heated grip function.

Wild Ones Chubby 575 bars enabled me to ride 1000km days with out any pain in my shoulders, elbows and wrists. Best bars I have ever rode with.. This is my 3rd HD and I wish I knew about these bars when I bought my first one. And I am 5'10 as well.
