Was that reflected in all the huge markdowns on the floor stock  :huepfenjump3:

hehehe...

I've been down that road with car dealerships before.  They can never quite explain their logic (or lack of) and quickly talk themselves into a corner...

Floor stock is right....SMHD had boocoos of new 2013's sitting on the floor this past Saturday.  And most of the folks in the showroom were looking at the 2014s.

Nicky, here's my take.  They wanted your breakout at a discount so that when all the folks that buy the "twin cooled" bikes bring them back for all the service work over the next year, that dealer will have something on the floor to offer them on trade..... ;D :huepfenlol2:

Keep the Breakout and get the FLHX if you can....best of both worlds if it's an affordable option.

If you can get my wife to agree to it, I'll get you a steak dinner in downtown Chicago!

Once the 2013's  are gone from inventory, the newnest of the 14's have worn off, things will be back to normal.

First - Understand that no matter how nice our bikes are, they are going to depreciate, maybe a bit less than others, but still, they are used.

Second - You are a lot like me and many others who always want to trade for a new toy. That is fine, if you plan for it and don't worry so much about a couple of grand, if it drives you crazy, don't keep buying new toys.

Third - If you think the dealer is screwing you - buy from someone else, and make sure the sales guy knows that you did. Don't be loyal to them, you live in a city with many other options.

I've seen online that those dealerships that still have 2013 breakouts are still selling at over MSRP

No matter how loyal we are to our local dealer, they are still in this for one thing...to make as much money as they can...plain and simple.  You are a means to an end for them no matter how friendly they seem.  Granted there are a few exceptions out there, but I would say less than 2%.  If you have a Breakout CVO that you paid 26k before tax, tag, fee's etc....I would be ABSOLUTLEY SHOCKED if they give you 21k for it now on trade...

They are at $23K as we speak.  The dealer I like has a guy very interested in the bike, so the sales guys says he thinks he can get an even swap because of thre quick turn around ability.

Good luck with the trade, man. Dealers always low ball until they realize that you are not an idiot and they won't be able to STEAL your bike. It's always better to sell privately than to trade in, but it's a hassle and takes time.

They will always want to make a good profit - on both what they give you for your bike vs what they can sell it for, AND what they make on the new bike you buy.

I would love to own a CVO Breakout... but Street Glides are the BOMB! Again, good luck... and STAND FIRM!

For some reason the FLHX doesn't depreciate since it has become like the #1 selling Harley. I was looking online and 2007-2009 models are still selling for 18-19k. That's with like 20-40,000 miles.

Sorry, I meant the CVO, are NADA values consistent with what dealers are willing to trade an sell for?
