Engine Noise
« on: October 24, 2006, 01:31:35 PM »

Hey guys! I am new to this site and have a question about my 07' SERK. It makes a little engine noise when I am riding, kinda sounds like a valve tap or something from an older Chevy 6 cylinder. Is this normal? The noise from the exhaust is clean and sounds great, jsut seems like a little noise in the front end. Other than that I think the bike is great. Can someone advise me on this. Thanks

Troy,
Welcome to the Internet's best CVO/Harley website, we are glad you found us. In regards to this noise I just want to ask is this your first Harley? Only reason I ask is many have come from "other" brands of scooters and thought they had a problem when in actuality it's just been normal "motor" noise they are hearing.

Welcome aboard and glad you found the site.

My question initially was the same as d00d's, these puppies are a bit on the noisy side when it comes to valve train etc.

I'll wait to hear if it is your first Harley as well.

Odds are you are hearing normal engine notes.

Yeah, what they all said.  If you think that noise is loud on your bike, you should hear it on an Electra Glide with the batwing and lowers to quiet the wind noise down. [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Roger...thats funny!
It sounds like its low on oil...might of been designed that way so we will check the oil often...but we all know these bikes never leak or burn oil?
 ;D ;D

The HD dealership gave me a drip pan for it dripped oil from the purchase...it was the norm The AMF Days

As I recall I just screwed a bolt into the chain auto oiler and eliminated most of the dripping issue. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

You were smart,  I always crimped the oil line...  LOL   but it was still a mess oiling the chain when it got rusty.
