Baker Attitude Chain Adjuster or Hayden BT07 Tensioner
« on: August 29, 2013, 08:18:49 PM »

Both of these upgrades have their good and bad points as I perceive them; with the Baker, I'd have to remove the compensator and future adjustments means removing the primary cover each time. With the Hayden, the compensator remains in place and it is self adjusting. However, the physical appearance of the Hayden is not as complimentary as the Baker; it doesn't look like it would hold up as well. Although I know which way I leaning right now, I'd still like to hear from those that have had experience with either or possibly both.

Hayden has been totally reliable in every bike I've used them in, including my 15 yr old FXSTC. Very easy to install-----just set it and forget it.            JoeS

:confused5:   Why do you think you would have to eliminate the compensator to use the Baker adjuster?  Check the Baker site again and you will see that the compensator remains installed when you use their adjuster.

I don't know anything about the Baker. It seems odd to have to remove the compensator for a primary chain tensioner. I'll check it out.

I have had excellent results with the Hayden on multiple bikes. It does what it's designed to do very well, and never needs adjustment.

Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. I didn't mean to imply the compensator is removed and not replaced; I should have said the compensator has to be removed to install the Baker and then reinstalled. ??? I think I said that right.

I have a Baker, you do have to remove the compensator sprocket & chain to install the tensioner itself & then reinstall
the compensator sprocket & chain. I've never seen the Hayden but the Baker is a really beefy & strong looking piece.
I'm completely satisfied with the Baker & would recommend it to you or anyone that asks.
