The dreaded phone call from the dealer
« on: October 26, 2006, 08:50:20 PM »

Had my 2007 SERK in for its 1000mile.  I had the rear tire checked because someone told me the rear wheel had side to side runout.  The dealer called and said that the tire was bad and the rear sprocket was bad.  The sprocket is being FEDEX'd from the MOCO tomorrow.
Then the second phone call came.... they regretted to inform me that during the tire mounting (which took three techs) they damaged the wheel.  I'll get the bike back tomorrow which is good, but the wheel may take a while.
What can you do?  It must be difficult working on expensive bikes where any oops is very bad.  Heads up for anyone attempting to change their own tires on these bikes.  I think the fat wheel /radial tires may be a bit more of a challenge.  At least it wasn't a painted part.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Now that does not speak well for the quality control at either end of does it? The more I think about it, I cringe at the issues of receiving a new bike, getting it right in the first place and then getting it right after riding it for 500 miles. Doesn't sit right somehow.  [smiley=soapbox.gif]

I'm glad it is being resolved, but for $30K, someone should check for tire runout.  These (CVOs) are the ones that are custom built, not production line.  In another post, I detailed how within 18 hours of picking up the bike, I returned because the headlight had gone out the first night I got it (bad switch) and the headlight was literally falling out.  Three screws missing, all loose.  It must be a "friday" bike.  Good thing I bought the extended warranty.   [smiley=soapbox.gif]
