I'm used to looking out for deer but this?   :nervous:    :oops:

From Fox News:

A mountain lion was caught on camera Thursday straddling a deer it had just killed on a highway in the mountains of Santa Monica, California.
The U.S. Department of Interior tweeted the picture of the deadly encounter which was taken on a remote part of the Mulholland Highway.
Officials believe this is the first mountain lion sighting on a park roadway although wildlife biologists have seen more than 400 of the animals in the area.
Aside from mountain lions and similar predator animals such as bobcats and coyotes, almost 400 species of birds and 35 species of reptiles and amphibians can be found in the California National Recreation Area.

Deer having a bad day! Seems like I heard some joggers/mountain bike riders have been attacked by mtn lions.

I've seen a few mountain lions around where I live, and we even have a hunting season for -em.
Rare to see one actually taking their kill though!

Greg, that is definitely not something you see every day....and darn glad I don't!  Coming around the corner and seeing something like that on a scooter would cause seat pucker in this ole boy.... :o

Had a close encounter with a mt.lion in southern AZ while bird watching. Face to face at 15 feet after the cat had come down off a hillside. I remember the yellow eyes. Magnificent animal, my best sighting ever---by far.    JoeS
