Rear end of 2014 SERK
« on: September 14, 2013, 09:54:07 AM »

After seeing these in person it seems the designers decided to raise the top of the taillights out more. They sure aren't pleasing to look at to me. Do you think they did that so the light is more visible to drivers  behind you?

I would estimate that the reason why the rear brakes were "raised" was to make the brakes, turn more visible to drivers in the blind spots.   I have previously wondered about that on bikes with flush brake/turn lights between the fender and the bags.   I actually dont mind the new taillights.   It looks like I may be one of few who really like the 2014 SERK and I plan to trade in my 013 Road Glide in to get the orange/black model very, very soon.

I just purchased a new 2014 Roadking cvo and after looking I think because of the beefed up struts and bag mounts they had to move them outward. I personally
think they look great on my tribal orange and black :2vrolijk_21:

I did demo days a couple of weeks in a row and rode a couple of  the 2014 RK's several times each. They ride nice and the front end seems planted good. Brakes were good.  The motor seems a bit more responsive and runs slightly cooler. Nice running bikes.
Road kings love those curves.

Any buffeting with the stock windscreen?

The 14 brake lights do not look as good as the 13 brake lights.

However, they do not look near as bad in person as they did in the first pictures.  It may well have to do with the way the new bags mount.

I didn't notice much but did get some wind. That's kinda what I like about the Road king.
That being said I'm not sure I like the stock screen. Its kinda funky looking.

How would you rate the ride compared to last years Road king?     Since the front and aback are both lowered one inch can you tell?   Billy

The tail lights don't look as trick as the 13s but they should offer improved visibility/safety as they are out further. I am guessing this is the reason for the change. I don't have any issues with the way they look.
