Sold my 2013 CVO Ultra ...
« on: September 16, 2013, 08:49:14 AM »

I could never bond with my CVO Ultra ...it just never seamed to fit -so I put a high but reasonable price on her and listed it in Craigslist...if it sold great! if it did not I was going to start making modifications . Well.. it sold at the asking price :orange:

So 2014 CVO Ulta Limited or 2014 Ultra Limited

That is the question...........

BTW...its hard not to go back to a CVO

I also sold my 2013 CVO I traded on a 14 for the same reason. A buddy found out I traded it an went to the dealer and bought it . With the wife and I on it  seemed to be a little tight for us. We fit fine on our friends 2012 Limited and assumed we would be comfortable on the CVO  "Wrong"  the adjustable lumbar pad pushes foward by an additional inch or so making it to tight for us. Also the passenger floor boards were an issue .  There was not enough room between the front and rear floor boards to walk the bike.  Oh well could go on and on but enough said. I know that HD addressed these issues on the 2014 and hope when it comes in later this month we will be happy . Not real happy right now after taking a hit on trading a 3 month old bike.

I went from a 2007 SE Ultra to the new 2014 Ultra Limited. Would have loved buying the CVO Limited but could not justify the money. I went with the custom paint option, Daytona Blue and am real happy. It was a huge step up going from my 2007 to the 2014. The new bike is so much better in every respect. Good luck, you will be happy with either bike.

That actually becomes a even greater debate in 2014 with all the amenities that come standard on the Limited in comparison to the CVO limited which costs $11,835 more & weights 48lbs more.  Both have the hydraulic clutches now, upgraded 6.5" screen (infotainment w/USB/Bluetooth,Sirius, etc.), both have the larger forks & sealed neck bearing, same wind management, linked ABS, cooling, etc.

With the limited you get your choice of wheels & discs

In the CVO you get the custom paint, upgraded (75 watts per ch.) stereo, the 110 granite motor, all the added chrome, brake lines, bag liners, cover, painted inner fairing, chrome forks, etc., etc.

For me it's an easy choice as I love the 110 (granted the 103 can easily be upgraded to out perform the 110), I love the paint, and I don't want to deal with adding the chrome, painted inner fairing, etc.  Still it depends on the persons needs, preferences, & wants, and I see the gap closing in 2014.  Forget resale, get the bike you want! :2vrolijk_21:

I agree you should get the bike you want or can afford - Although I'm getting the CVO version I believe the price gap may be larger - I say that because the dealers are more likely to discount the Limited's more due to availability and volume. The CVO's will be more or less at MSRP - not sure what kind of discount folks are getting on Limited's - as far as re-sale - not sure 2-3-4 years down the road it will depend on quality and reliability.

I sold my 2011 CVO Ultra and bought the 2014 CVO Limited, expensive but worth every penny for me. Just my two cents.. :2vrolijk_21:

Buy the bike you want/love. Either option is a great bike. Don't settle. If you do you won't be happy and you'll be shopping again.

Goauto, regarding your footboards. I had the same problem when I bought my 09. I kept banging my legs into the rear footboards Take the passenger ones and switch them from one side to another where the stem bolts to the bike. If they are the same as my 09 you will get a lot more room to move your legs back and forth while moving your bike around. It is only two bolts and about 15 minutes unless you want to switch the direction of the actual rear footboard itself so it is pointing in the same direction as before you switched. I didn't bother. They look okay either way. I made a post about it a few years ago.CAHDBIKER

I just flipped my passenger floorboards around too. Made a big difference. I did reorient the boards so they stayed on the same side.

I put an adjustable tour pack on my CVO and slid it back 4". Gives us lots of room. We also put the arm rest on. We have a 2013. Went with the Kryankan brand. Not willing to take a hit on price. So I will continue to enjoy mine. Had it Dyno tuned and dropped heat by 30 degrees. At he York open house this weekend. We left Amarillo a week ago. I have 20k on bike and love it.

Have you considered a street glide? Fit is everything. Try a street glide and if it doesn't work for you then you know the Ultra is still a good option. I recommend the CVO
