Lifter installation process
« on: September 17, 2013, 09:02:02 AM »

I have a 2008 with the 110 engine. I already have adjustable push rods. How hard is it to change out the lifters as I have over 38,000 miles on the originals. Have never done this type of job and was wondering about the difficulty and also the procedure of adjusting the pushrods after the new lifters are installed. Any help appreciated.

have you changed out the cam bearings?  If not, them you definately should do this at the same time.
You should also measure the crank run-out when you're into it considering the miles you have on it.

This is a video about replacing cams primarily but a lot of good info about lifters and installation as well:

I would think most competent techs could change lifters in two hours.
For me it took 4.
I took out the stock "C" lifters in the 12 SERGC and installed the S&S Premium lifters w/travel limiters.

Took me the better part of an afternoon to do mine the first time - just remember if you use the travel limiters the adjustment procedure is different from the procedures in you shop manual.

Got ya!
Believe it or not I read the S&S installation instructions first.
Usually I read the instructions last.
And I changed plugs also. That may have taken ever bit of 10 minutes.

I read the instructions -- twice -- and still had to phone a friend to make sure I understood how to preload the things..
All's well that ends well though.
