2007 SERK Pipes
« on: October 29, 2006, 06:39:18 PM »

New to this site and need some help... Just bought 2007 SERK and want to add louder pipes. Looking at Vance & Hines 4" round mufflers, ovals aren't for me on this bike. Love the looks of the round 4" stock pipes...Some friends are recommending Rinehart's, but I don't know the details about mounting true duals versus Vance & Hines slip-ons. I've head the SE slips on are not very good (sound & performance). Any recommendations?

Welcome Pete,

I know what you mean about the stock 4" mufflers, they look really good on that bike.  One idea if you are interested in "True Duals" would be to go with the Vance & Hines Dresser Duals head pipes along with the V&H 4" mufflers.  The latest version comes with the bungs for your O2 sensors.

Actually, the earlier SE mufflers weren't bad.  Not as loud as many of the aftermarket muffs, which to many of us is a good thing, but they will bark when you get on the throttle.  The new for '07 SE mufflers are street legal, so if you're looking for volume you won't want to go there.

Check on Ebay for several companies that sell stock modified HD slip ons.  There are at least two vendors.  You can get them in different stages of baffle mods.  The two high points are they run around $150/pair and you can get 2007 HD mufflers that are stamped with the EPA approved, 80DB signage.  They will not be obvious unless you get the louder versions.

I got tired of listening to all that ticking and clicking going on under the tank and stuck these mufflers on.

pushrod,  love your bike.  I picked up my Red SERK Monday but it had been raining so much here I didn't really get a chance to ride until today and what a ride it was. Did about 130ml around some of the back roads.  Bike handles great but she is definitely to quiet for me.  I have Rush SlipOns on my 06 RK Std and I really like them.  As you said,  sound is deep but not overly loud so the neighbors are ok.  I would be interested to know as well if these slipons if there are any potential issues with the ECM, etc.  For the sound and quality, Rush is pretty good.   I know I will be doing something with the exhaust (definitely doing something about the windshield).

Ride Safe,
Rick

Good choice!!  They'er loud and will get louder as the fiberglass dimishes within the baffles.  I like them and since you don't have a radio....wick her up!!  They sound GREAT!
Cheers!  [smiley=drink.gif]
