Touchy throttle !!
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:39:34 PM »

Hey any one have a very touchy throttle like me ?   This new TBW  is just way to sensitive. Hit a bump and of course your hand moves slightly so does the throttle up goes the revs ( sucks ). Any one have a solution here ??

If it is your first experience with a fly by wire throttle they are a little touchy. I don't know that there is a cure. After some miles I adapted to it and don't have an issue with it. Be SAFE

This is my biggest gripe. I absolutely HATE the throttle by wire setup. It is simply a poorly engineered design. No fix as far as I can see.

No fix. But over time I adjusted to it pretty well. Don't know how exactly but it got better with experience riding.

I've had an '08 SERK and now an '09 SERG.  Neither of these have given me any issues with throttle response lagging or being too touchy or sensitive.

As much as I use my cruise control, if I had cables my hand would be moving all over the place, but with TBW I can relax my right hand without any issues.

IF I'm not mistaken, the TTS Mastertune tuning device has the ability to make some adjustment to the ratio of throttle grip movement vs throttle body butterfly blade opening.  I can't swear to that, but perhaps one of the tuners familiar with the TTS will chime in.  If not, you could PM Steve Cole (a member here and THE TTS man) and get an answer.

I have had TBW since 2008 and got used to it pretty quickly and actually prefer it now. If it really bugs you, you can adjust how TBW responds using the Throttle blade control tables with a good tuner like Power Vision, Sert or TTS

SEPRT has the ability to adjust the sensitivity.   Give it some time, you'll become accustomed to it.

Since they switched to TBW the quality of the cruse control action is 1000% better. That is a awesome improvement.

I have the same problem very touchy throttle I'm still trying to get used too it, you hit the throttle you better hang on or you will roll right off the back of the bike.

I personally love how "quick" the throttle response is..

So far, the two bikes I've had with the TBW system worked great.  All previous HDs were cable throttle and I prefer the electronic feed.  No issues with any twitchyness.  Actually, my wife's 883 Superlow has the most sensitive throttle I've come across lately and it's cable-fed.
James, maybe you need to take it in to have it evaluated and/or adjusted.

I'm running 12" Yafee bars. The higher hand position creates an extra added downward force than with stock bars. If my cars were this sensitive I'd be hearing about a government recall!

It's not as much as the twitchy that is a problem it's more of the creaking stepped feeling you get with minor throttle adjustments, especially riding back roads. Take a look at the patent and you'll see why the design is very poor.
