Awhile back Kurakyn posted these on their website as "available in November."  Mine arrived today.  When they were mentioned before (of course) the "worthless without pics" icon was hoisted.  So here goes.  Not great light but you get the general idea.

The bracket and ring are all chrome, front and back.  The entire thing is contoured to match the arc of the fender.  Bolts to mount the trim ring and license plate are flush mount with the ring.  Full sticker price is $50.00.  In good light it actually looks pretty snazzy (for a license plate mount).  So guess the price isn't too bad.

One other thing.  This does move the plate down just a bit more.  So I'd guess a good chunk of the SUBTOTBF might now be covered.  Perhaps something you'd not have to mess with anymore.

A side view to illustrate the contour a bit more.  If you've got smaller hands mounting wouldn't be a big deal.  You need to get at the two bolts inside the fender that hold the tail light on.  The plate bracket bolts to it.

My hands won't fit between the fender reinforcement bracket and the tire though.  So the side covers come off, then the bracket, then it's easy.  Would've almost been easier to take the back tire off.  Not quite.  But almost.  Anyway, less than an hour and it's done.  Worth the trouble.

No Dave it doesn't.  Can't tell from the photo but there is more than 1/8" clearance.  Since this plate mount hangs down lower than did the stock mount the emblem is now about 1/3 covered.  So I'll probably be cutting it off and either remounting or trying something different.  If the divot is completely covered might not have to use anything at all.

John, does your Ultra have the same rear light assembly as the SEEG in teh pictures above?  If it does you'll be good to go.  The only "standard" model that uses that light is the FLHX (Street Glides) so that's what Kuryakyn lists.  The 04 SEEGs don't use that light but the 05s is where it started.  If the Ultras continued it you'll be fine.

Ernie, I'd seen that before and nearly bought it a couple of times.  Quite liked it.  Then saw this thing from Kuryakyn that countoured the plate and frame to match the arc of the fender and liked it even better.  Sometimes it pays to wait.....

It does look like the same light bar.  Though you don't have the low mounted license plate to begin with.  Without the license frame mounted off the light bar stock you'll also need to pick up a couple of screws that hold the bracket to the bar.  They don't come with the new frame as they're on the FLHX and SEEG2s to begin with.

Should work but wont be lit. I have the 04 and I bought the stock HD one to put it down below the tailight. That gives you the light pointing down.

If the light bar itself is the same perhaps just the lamp can be added?

You mention in your original post that by removing the side covers, you can access the two bolts holding the turn signal assembly.  Do you need to also disassemble the tail light unit? I am hoping there is enough slack in the turn signal wiring to get access to the backet bolts.
