If you read some of the responses on HD Forums, and others, the fixes are all over the place for the ones puking coolant. Don't know about leaks. But everything from new caps on the coolant recovery tanks to reflashing the ECM. Every dealer it seems trys a different approach. If Harley really know how to fix the problem, they aren't telling the folks in the field about it. Several have filled lemon law suits, and complaints with NTSB.
Most have said they love the 2014 bikes, but cant live with the coolant problems.  Cant believe with all the testing that was done on Project Rushmore, that some of these problems didn't surface during testing and a fix was developed. Then again maybe they did and this was the fix.......nah HD wouldn't do that.........would they?

They don't know how to fix them. That is why a lot of dealers have a camera set up to send the film back to the MOCO. Some have had a reflash some have already filed lemon law suits. A friend of mine who works on them is going crazy. Talking to tech support at the factory they have NO idea what is going on. It is either sensors fighting each other or the ECM. BTW if you take the water cooled heads off and replace them you will need a new ECM and maybe a harness for an air cooled machine.

So many experts  :drink:

I am by no means an expert. But my best friend of 45 years is!!!! He is a Master HD Tech. There are a lot of recalls and service bulleting on these motors already. How long ago were they released? Six weeks maybe!!!!! So don't shoot the messenger, just go ahead and buy one. This kinda reminds of the dreaded 2007 110 motors!!!!

Why do you get the feeling that I am shooting the messenger? (And why do you think I referred to you?)

And sure I will buy one, already done, gets delivered in the end of October. If to many issues I sell it and buy something else, not really a big deal, its a toy  :nixweiss:

Is anyone really surprised by these events?  Especially when the moco just slaps together some BS design for water cooling instead of applying some real engineering and modern technology to the approach?  Where is the team that championed the v-rod engine?

In Germany at the Porsche engine division...

It is a big deal, if it has lots of issues, it is 40K.  So if you buy at MSP and six months later have to sell because it spends more time at the dealer, in the shop than on the road you will loose 5K or much more if you sell or trade.  To most 5K is a good chuck of change

Its a toy, but I agree, $5K is a lot to lose and I rather not. I can get a nice handgun for that money

I like how you roll!!!!! Not sure if you were referring to me or not. Sooooo I made sure I clarified it!!!

This will be like everything the MOCO has done in the last 8 years or so. I know my Buddy is getting ready to have a come apart, as warranty pays very little. They will get it figured out. It is just a matter of how long it will take. I am sooooo glad I bought a 12 when I did.

You're right...  They just might have fixed the compensator issues - after 7 years.  Now lifter failures - that's another story!   And TBW issues, well, they've only been working on that one for a few years now, so we'll have to use patience, I suppose.   :)

Thanks for bringing these issues out into the open, Dawg.  Your post here made me spew my coffee, so funny because it is true.

I had one of those POS 2007 110 motors.  After the problems began, the MoCo had no clue what to do about them & left the dealers doing waranty work that was best described as "shots in the dark."  Had a good dealer here so when they finally got the REAL fix, they got me in & out quickly.  But after that the bike had so many other failures & break downs I finally traded it in.

I told everybody who was looking at these 14 water heads about my 2007 110.  Most remembered, most have a wait & see attitude as a result.  Having been a test gerbil for the MoCo once, have no desire to run down that road again.  For those who have 2014's, best of luck to you.

Good info here Dawg, thanks for keeping us informed!
