YET...the fact that you can upload .gpx file from mapsource is promising.  I'm not sure how many routes you can upload.  Gonna put together some routes with only 9 waypoints, but multiple routes say a five day trip.  I think I could manage 9 points in each route ie start point, lunch stop, maybe a couple of gas stops, and motel and the end.  Maybe it'll be OK? If more than 9 points are needed for each day, I think ya could route two trips per day am/pm.  If the built in POI's are biker friendly things like National Parks etc won't be necessary in the route as before with the Garmin for side trips within the days route.  I'm also thinkin that when they get the "issues" worked out that upgrades to the GPS will be forthcoming.   :nixweiss:

Boom! Infotainment System. Navigation. Trips limited to 9 waypoints.
« Reply #18 on: October 07, 2013, 08:27:36 AM »

I love the new Rushmore improvements made to the Touring bikes. :-*
Also the Boom! infotainment system.  :tekst-toppie:

It is possible to import trips into the navigation system by using .gpx files.
The max. number of waypoints for trips is 9. Making this feature practically useless.   :sauer005:

Does somebody know why this is limited to 9 waypoints?
Are there any plans from the MoCo to get rid of this limitation?
Is there a work around for this limitation? Except for the obvious one: splitting a trip in multiple sections. Which is not really a solution.

I've done that. It works if you don't need to many via points. This tool might be helpfull for you. http://wingdb3.software.informer.com/3.7/
WinGdb3 is a tool to do all kind of conversions or other modifications to a route. Like splitting a route in multiple routes according to a max number of waypoints per route which you can set.

By the way: the max number of points in a route is 9. Not only Waypoints but also Via points.

I was going to add that too, the nine points are the Start, Stop and no more than 7 via points.

Also, any map updates have to be done by the dealer.  I remember finding out what Ford wanted to update a navigation system and I learned that I could not afford that.

You need many more waypoints to direct the navigation unit to use the roads you want to ride. If you just program start and stop, the navigation system will calculate the route according to its settings, e.g. shortest or fastest. A typical leg of 150 miles in a not to remote area will require some 30 to 40 waypoints.

Was told by dealer the first map update was free. $150.00 an update after that. Just Harley's way of saying thank you.

From what I am hearing I might as well plan on mounting my 665 Garmin and just rely on it and use the GPS in the infortainment for a conversation piece. My Garmin has lifetime updates....
