Seats
« on: October 05, 2013, 11:22:53 PM »

I have a new 2014 SERK and need help with seats. I have had Mustang and Russel on my 07 Serk. Wondering what everyone thinks about the HD Hammock seat?  Billy

I have a dual hammock that I rode for a couple hundred miles before taking it off. I didn't like it. Have a Corbin but am thinking of getting a russel. Why don't you want another Russell?

NO the seat feels OK  But you can not install a back rest. The bike is great  rides better than my 07 with Traxion in front and Bituboes in rear. I also raised the 07 up to stock RK height. Don't think I will have to change any suspension   Love the bike with all the changes HD made.    Just don't like the windscreen   The wind hits me in the face  and can't open the full-face helmet without getting blasted in the eyes  wind  NO regrets on the new bike    Billy

My cvo ultra had the heated hammock & it looked good but sucked to ride on, now have a heated Mustang & love it. Think the hammock looked better but more interested in the comfort.

I find the Hammock great! It does raise you about an inch from the stock seat, if you have trouble reaching the ground or the bars, it might nor work without other mods. Being 6'2", its absolutely perfect for me. I have ridden on it for 7 or 8 hours without any discomfort.

I like the hammock seat. On the last day of returning home from Milwaukee this summer for the 110th, my buddy and I rode 744 miles that last day. I was plenty tired but my backside would have been a lot worse without the hammock.

I had a Mustang sport touring seat on my previous bike (VTX 1800C), and liked it quite a bit.  I was figuring I would give Mustang the first look again when looking for a 2-up long-ride seat.  For local riding around town, the stock SERK seat should be good enough for me.

In regard to your windshield dilemma, quite a few 2013 SERK owners have had the same issue.  I'm 6'3", and there wasn't any way the Windsplitter was going to work for me.  I just bought a used OEM 20" RK windshield and went for a quick 20 minute ride yesterday.  That was the first time I loved EVERYTHING about the ride, and could truly enjoy it!  I'll be going with either a Clearview or a LongRide replacement, and will be asking everyone's opinions/experiences in another thread.

Crap, sorry for the  :jack:

I have the two up hammock seat and absolutely love it. I can ride for hours and be comfortable. The stock seat feels like a piece of plywood even with some gel put into it.

I have the stock hammock seat on my FLHTCUSE8 and love it.  I tried a number of seats on my 05 Ultra including the Harley Road Zeppelin, a Corbin and ended up with a mustang seat.  So far after over 10,000 I am still very happy with the stock seat.

Had the hammock on my 2011 cvo ultra road glide now have the sundowner on my 2012 cvo road glide custom. You set more in the seat then you do on top like you do on the hammock. Sundowner works better for me on the Long hauls.

Hi Billy, you might want to consider taking your seat to a reliable upholstery shop. They can contour it exactly to fit your needs and insert a gel pad if you want. I had that done on my 09 SEUC. It worked out perfect, they retained the heater and it cost me $450.00. That was only for the drivers portion of the seat because my wife was fine with the original seat. CAHDBIKER
