Gas cover
« on: October 08, 2013, 07:29:14 PM »

Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I know I have read where someone had a problem with the one touch gas cover. Mine was starting to stick to the point I was starting to worry about getting it open. The solution is to spray some WD-40 into the latch mechanism and it frees it up real well.

Right.  Most think that the push button is sticking when it is actually the axle mount lacking lube.

hep0950, The gas cap on my 09 used to rattle/buzz when going down the freeway. When I put my glove on it  the buzzing would stop. It had a lot of play on the rear hinge. The HD shop wanted to replace the entire chrome piece on the top of the tank. I thought that they would cause me some extra problems so I took it apart, put a small piece of red shrink tubing over the part of the cap that moves in the hinge. When I shrunk them down (naturally the cap was off the bike and on my work bench) the gas cap was a little difficult to force back into position and at first it took a slight effort to  move up and down, but when it got "acclimated" it worked just find and no more buzz when going down the road.CAHDBIKER
