What do you think about seat issue?
« on: October 21, 2013, 07:45:42 PM »

I still have the FLHTCUSE3 WITH 30K miles and the 7 yr warranty.

Do I have a shot in getting them to replace my seat since it is coming apart at the seems?

I have not asked the dealer yet.....

long shot?

My bet will be they won't do it, will be real interesting to see what their excuse is. I would go with "The seat is covered under standard warranty so it should be covered now!!"

Read the language of the service contract first Jeff.  Forewarned is forearmed.  If the language doesn't say no and they do you can at least make them flinch.

I guarantee they will not replace the seat, if you don't ask, so give it a shot.

I have a 2010 with 50,000 miles and similar issues and they will only replace my seat if the heater goes out.

I was told that they are not responsible for normal wear & TEAR and therefore they would not cover it (or re-cover) for that matter.

My money is on them saying "NO" to a warranty replacement on your seat.  Sorry.   :(

Call HD customer service, don't just take the word from the dealer. I have a 2010 SE Streetglide and the chrome was peeling off the gear shifters and when I took to the dealer the E W people said it's not covered but when I called HD CS they okeyed it and I had the new shifter within a week.I realize it's not a seat but just the difference between E W and HD CS.

They replaced the seat on my 2010 CVO Ultra after 2 years because the stitching was fraid.

JUST went through this.  Yes, the Service manager, upon inspecting the seat CAN determine the seat/seam defective.  Mine was not as old as yours, 2012.  Worth a try....

Mine started to come apart at the seam, it is a 2011 with 22k on it, they said it was normal wear and tear.    It is worth a shot though.
