Resetting PIN for security system
« on: October 27, 2013, 08:38:38 AM »

I am trying to reset the PIN for my security system. I have followed the directions in the manual but so far have had no luck in even seeing the set PIN let alone change it. Those of you that have been able to reset can you give me some insight as to how you did it? The instructions say to hit the run switch to Run-off-run-off-run. My question is: how quickly do you do this? When switching off and on do you wait for the system to cycle and set each time or is it a quick off and on? Any help would be much appreciated - thanks!

Go through the cycles quickly, about a second at each. Good luck, it is a PITA, but good on you for reading the manual!

Thanks Tin Spinner. I did it! I wasn't cycling the run/off switch quickly enough - as soon as I followed your directions it worked!! So thanks again for replying so promptly.

You did the easy part. Now You have to remember the 5 digit code! Most PIN numbers are either 4 or at least 6, so 5 for me was tough to come up with. Tough enough that I forgot it!!!  :nixweiss:

Everyone should know how to use their PIN start up.....this is what happened to me.

Over labor day we went riding to Chrisfield Maryland to watch the crab boat docking races (which is amazing)....we got to Chrisfield a couple of hours early so we decided to go for a ride along the coast.

After about a 30 mile ride we stopped for a break before heading back.....when I went to start my bike...nothing!  Did the normal stuff...neutral...switches on....clutch...still nothing....then I looked at my key chain...NO FOB!!!

I thought I knew my pin but was not sure of the procedure.....so after 20 min of trial an error I finally got it to start.

Upset that I lost my fob....we went back the Chrisfield and went to where we had parked before to see if I had dropped the fob there.  Looked around and could not find it....oh well...then for the hell of it I tried to start my bike and holy cow if fired up.....the fob has to be here!!!!  Looked around some more and found it setting on a post.  Someone must have found it and placed it there.  Ended up being a great day after all

So please.....know you pin and know the procedure to use it.

Great advice from Cat Eyes, I will add my wife and I added the code and directions into our smart phones so we don't have to try and remember stuff like that. I also carried a spare FOB battery in the saddlebag.
