2011 FLHTCU6
« on: October 29, 2013, 11:56:58 AM »

After a lot of miles on my 2005 SEEG, I have purchased a low mile ,7500, 11 FLHTCUSE6   I have not been keeping up with the threads for a while.  Are there things to watch out for? ASAP fixes  Failures?  I'd appreciate any input

Might want to check the lifters.... There have been more than a few of us here (myself included) that have experienced lifter failure which has led to much bigger repairs for some.. There has been some reports of issues with the compensator sprocket as well but the noise that makes is a more distinctive "clunck" than the "they all do that" valve train noises that for some have proven to be faulty lifters.

Those are the two concerns I'm aware of.

Thanks for the reply.. As I read other posts and threads it seems  S&S lifters and pushrods are the ticket. I have ESP but  under 500.00 is a lot better than walking to the next town or even filling it up with metal.  That being said, doing pushrods and lifters is real close to go ahead with a set of cams   Any suggestions?  Mostly touring two up. Nothin crazy as I don't want to deal with pinging and fuel issues. I do have a power commander on it already. It has Bub duals but I REALLY like the sound of CFRs

Doing lifters(tappets) and quickie install pushrods can be done without opening the cam chest up. I started the process of installing the S&S components when I discovered the damaged roller on one of the stock lifters and had the bike trailered to the dealer for evaluation of the valvetrain.

I also have an ESP so once the dealer fully determined the extent of the damage I went with HD parts, stock 255 cams, new updated cam bearings, new updated tappets (P/N 18572-13), along with the required oil pump, cam plate, cam chain tensioners ,cam chain ect... I did pay the difference in cost between the stock tappets and bearings and the cost of the "improved" versions.  I'm thinking that by staying with the HD parts, even the updated ones I should avoid an issues with the ESP people for the remainder of the plans' duration. As soon as you change the cams to another - presumably more aggressive grind -- I think all bets are off with the ESP if issues arise again..

Maybe ask about the CFR'S in the intake/exhaust area - I hear they can be a challenge to tune. Me? I'm a firm believer in the Fullsac system - headpipe, baffles and the TTS
