2014 Auxiliary Input Port Maybe
« on: November 01, 2013, 09:21:39 AM »

Was looking at some information on the new infotainment system and according to the pictures and description of the back of the radio there may be an Auxiliary Input port just to the left of the main plug, and right of the AM/FM antenna connector.

I do not have a 2014 so I can not say for sure but it might be worth a look for all those who want to mount there Garmin GPS units.

That's good info, Jim!  :drink:

What we really need to install the Garmin, though, is an input device that will mute other audio - I've been thinking for a week or two, that's an opening for you if BOMM sales tail off - something you'd look at doing?

Sent you a PM that casts doubt, but not definitive.  Probably just need to put some eyes on both stereos to figure this one out.

Thanks for the photo of the back of the radio of the 4.5. I do not see the input on this radio. The diagram I posted is of the 6.5 and it might be on the 6.5. If someone could take the cowling off and check to see if it is there and if it is test it. I would think it will show up as an input option but not until you plug in a 3.5.mm stereo male plug. Might show up as an AUX input.

Would solve an issue for those who want to use there Garmin and would be good to know if there is an AUX input in case someone wants to use it.

Building an interface that would mute all other outputs is not that difficult. The problem is that it would have to be amplified and that would take a little more thought. Being able to control the volume is another road block. If there is indeed an AUX input on the back of the 6.5 then at least you would be no worse off then where we were with the old Harmon found on the 2006 thru 2013.

I'll take the fairing off my friends 6.5 today to see.

Volume control could be done by the GPS, no?

On my (09) bike I have the Cellset interface that works well.

I *think* that's where the Sirius XM radio module goes.

Jim

I think you are correct it looks like it is being used on a CVO as that input. In that case anyone without the XM module might have an AUX input port if it is a 3.5mm stereo port and it should show up as AUX 2 because I think the USB shows up as AUX 1 at least that is what I am told.

I will have to wait until my buddy shows up to see what is going on with it, he does not have the XM module on his Limited.

Yes, 3 on your diagram is the USB input, Jim, so calling it the "Auxilliary Audio Input" makes sense if you say it shows up as Aux 1.

Almost makes me think about trading my 13 in for a 14 just to be able to dissect this thing. :-\
