Ford settlement on 6.0

Got this from a camping buddy, I'm sure it affects a few here.

Ford settlement on 6.0

For those who have EGR/Oil cooler issues with their 2003-2007 Ford 6.0 diesel as I did, A settlement has been reached where you can recoup some of your money spent on this problem. Here is the link stating the criteria, forms required etc, to file your claim. http://www.dieselsettlement.com/ I mailed mine today. All claims must be postmarked by December 31, 2013. My Ford Dealer had the record of my repair from 2009, and even though I traded the truck last year, I am still eligible for a refund. The maximum amount is approx. $825.00. Hope this is helpful to someone.

Wonder if Ford is doing anything for Canadians? Everyone I know that had/has a 6.0 has spent thousands 'fixing' it.

Dang, I bought the 2005 truck used with 145,000 miles in 2012.  It states there was a repair and I don't have any record of it because I did not own the truck at that time.  I did have to replace the oil cooler recently and all 8 injectors. :soapbox:

You should definitely consider adding the Sinister Diesel coolant filter.
Wherever you order, get 3 filters. Change the 1st after 1-2 months, 2nd, 6-8 months and the 3rd will probably be good for some time.
Sediment is what most likely caused your oil cooler to go bad.

I had the diesel bulletproofed in August and had the Sinister Diesel Cooler Filter installed.  That is when they found the 5 bad injectors.  I figured I would have all 8 replaced since everything was torn apart.

The sad part of the story was my EOT were running high (18-20 degrees above ECT).  I was scheduled to have a bulletproofing done in Georgia and was going to haul some cattle down that direction.  I wanted my EOT to be within spec so I flushed the radiator a few weeks before I had the bulletproofing scheduled.  After the flush my EOT shot up to 40 degree above my ECT (could have used the filter).  I had to get it oil cooler replace in order to get down to GA just so they could replace it again.

Do you know what filter that Sinister takes?

No I do not. Don't have or need it on my 6.7 Ford (as far as we know).

Brain "Hogasm" on this site has the kit and knows what filter it takes.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones.  I had some gasket leaks that were covered under warranty but other than that I never had any problem with the one I bought in 04.....had it about five or six years.  Here's a post from Jan 07...  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=10161.msg160039#msg160039

Now driving a 2012 F-250, Supercab, Lariet, Longbed, FX-4.  About 22,000 miles and no issues...............yet. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm one of the unlucky ones. Have four in my fleet of plumbing/ utility work trucks. One 450 has had the cab off five times (Tell me it's easier to do these repairs that way). I have spent excess of 16,000.00 over the last six years keeping these POS's running. Just as many repairs where during warranty period. I guess $825.00 per truck is better than nothing. Last company truck purchase was gas chevrolet. Been thinking long and hard about getting away from fords forever. :-\
