Are you saying that a 2013 SERK could have a black engine originally from the factory? I ask because all of the 2013 SERKs I've seen (except this one) have granite engines that match the primary cover and the other components.

He was talking about a 2012 Road Glide, not a Road King. For the 2013 CVO Road King, the regular version has an all granite engine and trans. The
Anniversary 2013 CVO Road King has the black engine and trans. The ebay ad you posted doesn't claim it is an anniversary model, so in fact the entire thing should be granite. I originally thought when looking at the photo's that perhaps there was a lighting issue that made the engine look darker, but of course you have now indicated you've looked at it in person and the engine is indeed black. It shouldn't be a mix of granite parts and black parts (and the real black engines also had gloss black covers, not chrome). So at this point I am at a loss as to what they have. Perhaps Harley screwed up when they assembled the bike, or perhaps the dealer did something weird when they modified the engine (see the post from 2012_FLTRXSE). Anyhow, check the engine serial number stamped on the case, it should match the serial number on the frame and in the paperwork. And if you are seriously interested in the bike get a copy of the actual repair order for the mods mentioned in that post from 2012_FLTRXSE. A 2013 should still have the remaining time on the factory two year warranty, but internal engine mods may have voided that. It's always best to know all this stuff going into the negotiations, and if there is no warranty and they mismatched the engine and primary/trans, there should be a reduction in price since those things do affect resale value.
