You paid big money for a NEW bike, not a fixer-upper.
I think I'd try to get someone inside the MoCo to authorize this.  -You'd probably feel a lot better.  :2vrolijk_21:

I think its time to start reading up on the lemon laws in Florida so you have all your facts in place when you tell them that is the route you are taking.  I would be pissed if that was my new high $$$ bike and had that kinda work taking place.  I sure hate to hear HD is not stepping up and taking care of you by either trading you out of it or at min. replacing the motor.

Keep the updates coming.

I'm counting at least 20 days so far that you can't ride your new $40k CVO HD.
What kind of compensation are they giving you? loaner? free services to 50k? 20% discount?

You say that you have a good relationship with your SM, and your Dealer, it sounds to me that they are giving you the old "I'm fighting for you the best that I can" BS. You might (if you haven't already) have a conversation with the GM about "when can I expect to ride my brand new CVO again???

Those guys from Tampa are expanding aggressively, they just built a new store in Panama City and bought the one in Tallahassee, I think that they are over a handful now...

No matter what anybody says, The MoCo wants to have your bike running and you to be happy with it. If you aren't  satisfied with the way things are progressing, get the "complaint ticket #" from your SM and call HD Customer Service and ask them; when can I ride my new CVO? I've called the MoCo a couple of times at My Dealers request ( My Dealer told me that on some things, a call from the customer might get more done ~ my bike was out of the factory warranty) The people that I spoke with at the MoCo are cool ~ no wizards behind curtains or anything. Just remember the old "flies and honey" thing.

As far as crank runout, oil pump, etc... I don't try to "tell" My Dealer (who I have a Great Relationship with!) or the MoCo lol,  anything about what needs to be done to fix my bikes, since we all know they are going to be paying for it when it comes apart again. I jus wanna ride...

Good luck, let us know how it shakes out.

Thanks guys......keep in mind I did not buy this one from the dealer here in Tampa that is doing the work. They tried to find one for me but no go so I bought from Space Coast HD plus they gave me 2k more for my 10 CVO Convertible

The service writer I usually deal with called me tonight after they closed to tell me it is all put back together and the SM will ride it in the AM......I told him  to tell the SM to go ride it all damn day LOL

Doesn't matter..........I can't ride at the moment since I pop at least 1 disk in my L4 and maybe S1.....so Percocet muscle relaxers don't make for good riding and hope it (they) repair themselves(s)

So anyone want a Low mileage UC Anniversary make me an offer it is # 934/1100 as the doc told me today it will be probably 3-4 months before he will think I will be able to ride any distance (He has a 2011 CVO-UC)

But I will get the complaint# and call HD when I get the bike back and add the days up I was without and then what the day rate for a rental and say I want that much in credit; and voice my concerns so it is on record. Then talk to my attorney about the lemon law here.

I know this.......the 2014 SG I had for 3 days as a "loaner" handled a hell of a lot better then this 13..........no front traveling all over the road.
So maybe I should insist on a new bike LOL

Thanks again gentlemen

I have a '13 CVO Ultra and I also have an intermittent "lifter rattle" under light acceleration at or near 2800 RPM's which seems to be louder on the left side of the bike/motor.
I have, and understand the complaints about "lifter ticking sounds" (which mine also has) but the "rattle" has to go.

Hopefully this isn't a serious problem but IHMO, it is not a healthy sound.

I just changed my fluids (near 8800 miles) as I didn't want the bike to sit all winter with dirty oil in the engine and primary.
I'm also thinking about a trip (towing) to Florida sometime next month and if I do I'll schedule an appointment for the 10,000 service and tell them I want the lifters/valve train thoroughly checked out.

I bought a new '75 FLT and it had a lifter issue which turned out to be a very serious problem and I have no intention going down that road again.

SM told me he thinks what I was really hearing was piston slap! Will know any day now

If the MOCO is not wanting to fix the bike right, I would trade that sucker off ASAP!   Get rid of the headache!  They should make you a sweetheart deal.  Whoever the next owner is better buy an extended warranty.  I'll bet they will be back into that motor before it hits 5000 miles.  Good luck with your situation, everyone on here hopes and prays it never happens to us.

Cowboy

I happened for the 1st time in my life bought the extended warrantee and that is transferable I believe

My friend, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles.  I was following this thread because I had a '12 CVO SG that had what sounds like similar noises that I ended up trading after 18 mos.  Didn't have the low oil pressure, but piston slap and a bad rear exhaust valve, to name a few of the issues.

I've also had back issues in the past, and know how awful that can be.  Stretching, drugs, and time are the only things that I found helpful.

I hope you have a full recovery and feel better soon.  There's a trike out there with your name on it somewhere.

Wow what a bummer. Trade that in on a trike all you've been through.

I just want to say Thank You to all of the people who cared what happened not only with the UC engine but were concerned about my back.

Also I wish All of you a Very Happy Safe and Prosperous New Year!

So update:

Back is still in a brace and will be doing a walking x-ray in 2 weeks to see if my spine is twisting as I walk; if it is they will not do surgery to remove the cyst that is up against my spinal cord and fuse L4, L5 & S1 together; if that is the case instead is what they are going to is inject cement between those 3 vertebrate and then put my in some type of a brace for 72hrs in the hospital that basically compacts my spine until the cement takes hold and hardens. Doc said I will be under heavy sedation for those 72hrs as it is as painful as it sounds.

So that is my physical health............Now the "Mental Health" part of my life........LOL

As I said above I was looking at a trike; my local dealer finally offered me a trade for $1850.00 difference.......I jumped on it........

I just wished MoCo would make a CVO Tri Glide as I find all kinds of little things that I have been used to with my CVO's; Like my remote locking of the trunk and bags......I loved that LOL

So here is my new Tri Glide.................Shhh don't tell my wife or Doc but I rode it around 3 blocks yesterday LOL

So I hope you all let me hang around as the regular HD forums sucks LOL
