HELP me install Supertrapp 2:1
« on: November 09, 2006, 02:46:24 PM »

[size=10](Where's that new Exhaust board when you need it?)[/size]
OK, the Supertrapp 2:1s for the '04 SEEG came in today, and the parts guy said "Aw, you can probably install them yourself."  He has more faith in me than I do. ;D
Doing it (or at least looking at it) tomorrow (Friday 11/10).

I've only installed slip-ons before. I have basic tools capable of scratching paint, mashing fingers and busting bolts off...  What the he11 am I gonna run into if I do this?  Should I do it? Probably applies to most exhausts...

1. I bought the "new conical type gaskets" that ST says to use.
2. Do you use Loctite on the flange nuts?  On any fasteners?  Red?Blue?
3. Do I have to remove the tank?

Any experiences are welcome!  Thanks in advance! [smiley=pumpkin.gif] And thanks again for all the help with other projects from all of ya. Doubt I would be doing much at all if not for this forum (UnBaLaNcEd, 2Lane, FR8TRN, et al) [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

OK, see how this place works?! [smiley=jalapeno.gif]
Jim and Harry already coaxing me on, having faith in me. I love this place!
Harry, I'll call ya [size=10](after I wipe the blood off my hands)[/size]

I have the SERT. Bike was dyno'd for the SE pros, but it's going in for another dyno at their expense since it still stutters at low throttle. SO, I'll install the ST, then mess with the SERT tomorrow, then send it off to the dyno next week.
Wow, what fun I'm gonna have tomorrow!
Thanks!

Update:
Removed old exhaust and installed Supertrapp with no (hardly any) problems and no blood. Unbalanced Harry sent me a map that I'll be installing shortly, then test drive.
If not for this forum, I wouldn't have considered doing it myself. I know many of you are thinking "what's the big deal?", well, I have 3 thumbs on each hand... does that answer?
So, forum saved me at least 2.5 shop hours @ $$$/hr. [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]
Thanks!

I know exactly how you feel. This site is great for building your confidence in "stepping out the box" and trying your hand at doing your own "wrenching".  You're lucky you only have 3 thumbs on each hand I'm all thumbs. ;D
