The only TC Harley I've owned that didn't clunk was one with a belt primary. Might not be normal......but it sure is common.

The infamous Harley CLUNK...........normal, some say in the design (on purpose), many posts here, GRC made a good one: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=18545.msg300372#msg300372

Some people say Bel-Ray tranny fluid or Red Line with shock proof helps. If you Google this you will find hundreds of posts about it, it is normal, it's a Harley, they make funny noises.

its not my first Harley, it is my 2nd Roadglide, first CVO 110. My 103 didnt make the same noise, I have seen other posting about this too but feel that the noise is more than normal Hd clunking. the bike rides great so far, it is going in for new heads, pistions, cam and exhaust next week so we will see whats what then. thanks for all the feedback though guys!

One difference between the two bikes you mentioned is the hydraulic clutch on the CVO.  Make sure it is fully releasing; that is not always the case with Harley's hydraulic clutch.

I think there is a slight clutch drag from clutch not fully disengaging
