Security Light Stays On While Riding
« on: November 19, 2013, 10:54:41 PM »

Hey Y'all, my security light stays on while I ride, yet system arms, chirps, when off and blinks like usual. I did unhook the battery cables to put in a battery tender harness....  Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn

Checked to see if you had any bulbs burned out?

Not sure what year yours is but on my '05 when the battery is disconnected there is a "procedure" that must be followed to "re-set" the security.  Listed in the Owner's Manual.

Hey Y'all, thanks for the great info. Only LEDs are in the in the small gauges. I got the codes,(S) B1126, B1154, (SP) B1007, (T) B1006, B1007, I guess I upset the system with a battery charger. I cleared the dtc's, hopefully they will not trip again...... Thanks, Shawn

If by any chance you have a Thundermax ECM unit on your bike it may be the source of your problems. I had one on an '07 SEUC and got weird codes, lights coming on or going off, instrument panel going dead, security light on sporadically and so on.

Same issue here, but on a stock bike...  MOCO told my dealer they were chasing ghosts.  Mine was / is not the only bike doing it either.  Was your issue actually the Thundermax EMC?

The issues I was experiencing were directly related to the Thundermax unit. Took a while to figure it out but after some forensics I realized I had none of these problems prior to installing the Thundermax ECM, Talked to a couple of HD techs and they concurred that it was a very bug prone system and they strongly advised not to go that route. Lesson learned on that one, I have TTS on my current bike and have had no problems at all. I can't say much about what you may be experiencing on a stock bike as it relates to the ECM but I would ask them to flash it to the most current upgrade and check for ground faults if it's giving you service codes. I'm sure there are many others on this site that know much more about it than I do that can give you better advice so hopefully they will chime in.
